Diagnose illnesses, examine patients, order, perform, interpret diagnostic tests and obtain medical histories. Prescribe and administer treatment for people suffering from injury or disease. Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions. Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required. Manage the patient care process, by ensuring that a comprehensive patient assessment and plan of care is completed and documented on all patients within the timeframe. Manage the physician/patient relationship. Consults with and advises other providers regarding optimal and cost-effective treatment of patients. Participate in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programs, as appropriate.
Required Minimum Position Qualifications:
Requires a Doctor in Medicine (MD) or the foreign academic equivalent and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or as an Internal Medicine Physician, Internal Medicine Resident or related occupation. Position requires demonstrated experience with inpatient care. Position also requires full licensure as a physician in the state of New Mexico; Licensures in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS). The required skills, certifications, and experience may be gained during candidate's medical residency as well as during previous work experience.
