Job Summary

This position supports the development and delivery of business intelligence and analytic services across Incyte's Commercial and Medical departments for use in decision-making by business stakeholders. This role focuses on the business and technical aspects of data integration, delivery, and reporting of business information across the US Business Unit. 

As part of the Business Unit Information Services (BIS) team, this position offers a unique opportunity to experience broad exposure within the US Business Unit and to participate in the implementation of solutions that enable Commercial Operations, Field Sales personnel, Medical Affairs, and others across the organization to effectively execute their daily business. 

The successful candidate will be flexible and eager to embrace a continuous, aggressive learning curve, and must be self-motivated. The candidate must be capable of supporting multiple projects in a fast paced, deadline-oriented, and cross-functionally collaborative environment. Additionally, a customer-service orientation with strong oral and written communication skills are keys for success. 

Summary of the Essential Functions of the Job 

  • Responsible for BIS system development and service offerings in the areas of data integration, reporting, and dashboards for US Business systems
  • Must be familiar with CRM systems, Master Data Management (MDM), and Data Warehousing and Reporting
  • Oversight and support of data warehousing and QlikView dashboard development in line with business needs
  • Must possess a strong understanding of Commercial pharmaceutical concepts and practices
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency through relevant experience with SQL, data models, relational databases, and business intelligence tools
  • Responsible for designing, building, documentation, and testing of data integration points and data service offerings in support of key customers
  • Support Commercial Sales and Marketing, Medical Affairs, Compliance, Finance, and liaise with IT as projects or requirements dictate
  • Involvement in the daily support and maintenance of Incyte's Master Data Management system
  • Manage, maintain, and create efficiencies relating to source files, data sources, and internal and external data exchanges in support of the US Business Unit
  • Support Sales Operations in an data preparation and analytic tasks and projects

Minimum Requirements

Business Requirements

  • 3 - 5 years of Commercial pharmaceutical experience
  • Familiarity with Specialty Pharmacy/Distributor model
  • Strong understanding of the roles of Health Care Professionals (HCPs) and Health Care Organizations (HCOs)
  • Experience with sales and field-based activity reporting, alignments, and roster management
  • Demonstrated ability to work with business stakeholders to extract, articulate, and shape requirements into a cohesive technical solution
  • Ability to design and implement BIS solutions with minimal oversight
  • Collaborate with BIS subject matter experts to integrate, develop, and maintain data offerings and services to the business
  • Create documentation relating to data, processes, and systems
  • Strong sense of customer service; ability to interact with employees spanning all levels of the organization 

Technical Skills and Data Analysis 

  • Hands-on experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, or similar RDBMS), SQL, and data models
  • Experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools -- QlikView or Tableau preferred
  • Experience with data integration projects and related tools such as SSIS, Informatica, or similar ETL tool
  • Must be familiar with Master Data Management (MDM) concepts. Experience with evolving MDM systems within a growing organization preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated experience using descriptive statistics to drive effective communication of ideas with business users
  • Experience with R preferred but not required
  • Strong skills using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint) 

Operations and Standards 

  • Identify improvements to existing operational processes and procedures
  • Independently troubleshoot system and/or data issues as needed
  • Ability to escalate issues appropriately
  • Collaborate with the Business Unit Information Services subject matter experts and business owners to ensure that information used follows the established compliance, access management, and control policies 

Communications and Training 

  • Ability to present and discuss processes and analyses relating to data in easy to understand terms
  • Communicate and work with business subject matter experts and organizational leadership of varying levels
  • Express technical and business concepts, ideas, opinions, and develop conclusions both orally and in writing
  • Train new users, both field-based and internal, on BIS application systems and related enhancements
