Job Requirements




Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business-related field required; MBA preferred. Experience as a finance professional in publishing desired. Impeccable business ethics, along with knowledge of accounting best practices required. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent judgment, initiative, and discretion necessary. Must be proficient in MS office, specifically Excel. Familiarity with Oracle systems desired. Supervisory experience preferred. Candidates with a minimum of 8 years of accounting and finance experience in scientific publishing may be considered for a job title commensurate with their years of experience.

The Assistant Director, Finance will be responsible for the oversight of revenues and costs for the RU Press and its' impactful biomedical subscription journals- Journal of Cell Biology, Journal of Experimental Medicine and Journal of General Physiology. Responsibilities include establishing and tracking annual budgets and financial performance, including subscriptions, publications and advertising revenue, monthly reporting to the RU Finance Office, financial modeling and risk assessment, and supervising Financial Assistants charged with invoicing and payment of vendors, publication fees and advertising revenues. The Assistant Director, Finance will be a key member of the Rockefeller University Press senior leadership team and the primary point of contact with the University's Finance Office.
