Job Description


Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Partner with field leadership and Divisional Vice Presidents (DVP) in assigned Regional Field Offices (RFO) and provide value-added working relationships with Registered Representatives (RR).
  • Proactively and independently researches, advises and counsels field leadership/RRs and on regulatory supervisory and compliance requirements as well as serves as a subject matter expert on regulatory/risk related matters, including special projects and initiatives.
  • Uncovers risk deficiencies within assigned RFO business and procedures and brings them to the attention of management. Position works to resolve issues, including complex issues, but may engage others, including Senior Counsel, Internal Auditor and business line owners to resolve deficiencies. The development of action plans to resolve issues may be necessary
  • Member of  RFO leadership team and provide risk-based consultation/influence on highly complex/sensitive communications, RFO activities and strategic direction
  • Conduct ongoing 1:1s with MPs regarding ongoing risks to RFOs
  • Consistently implement supervisory processes, procedures and tools with RRs and Field Management that integrates regulatory requirements into the RFO/FR practices
  • Conduct supervisory/riskonboarding training (RR & Field Leaders)
  • Conduct ongoing regulatory/risk based  RR, Operations Personnel  and Managing Partner training
  • Serve as the designated RFO RP responsible for all supervisory/regulatoryRFO issues during Managing Partner vacancies
  • Conduct delegated supervisory activities which include gift log review, supervisory database (Worklist) escalations, blotter oversight and public appearance review
  • Serves as subject matter expert on risk-related issues and impact as projects and initiatives are introduced, implemented and revised. Recommendations and/or decisions could have regulatory impact on assigned RFOs
  • Serves as a liaison for regulators and auditors as applicable.
  • Provide assistance to senior management, Compliance/Legal, and MPs concerning internal RR investigations, Member Complaints, and regulatory inspections
  • Partner with Branch Examination Group on resolution of identified findings
  • Collaborate with corporate Suitability/Surveillance teams, Compliance/Legal, and field leadership to assess the quality of each RR’s overall sales practices
  • Responsible for owning and mitigating the regulatory/supervisoryrisk  for assigned RFOs (generally 3 RFOs)
  • Outcome of reviews and responsibilities may be reviewed by regulatory with negative outcomes if job is not performed adequately
  • Utilizes independent research, thorough analysis and sound risk management judgment to determine appropriate policies and procedures for RFOS to ensure compliance with existing and newly enacted laws and regulations. Recommendations and/or decisions could have regulatory impact to assigned RFOs
  • Provide assistance to senior management, Compliance/Legal, and MPs concerning internal RR investigations, Member Complaints, and regulatory inspections
  • Conflict management as position will need to deliver difficult messages
  • Balancing risk with ease of doing business
  • Driving behavior without direct reporting relationships
  • Requires direct/in-line regulatory and product knowledge
  • FINRA Rule 3010 and NTM 99-45 provide instructions that each member firm have required supervisory systems designed specifically for that firm’s business.

Job Qualifications

  • College degree or equivalent industry experienced required
  • FINRA licenses: Series 7, 63/65 or 66 and 24 are required or obtained within 90 days of hire
  • 5+ years industry experience
  • Strong knowledge of products and IA requirements
  • Experienced registered principal with experience / exposure to experienced advisor recruiting
  • Exposure and experience dealing with regulatory exams and inspections
  • Demonstrated solid decision making abilities
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Strong  analytical and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic direction and influence behavior without direct reporting relationships
  • Willingness to travel: 30% requiredtravel
