WSP USA is leading a multidisciplinary team to manage the construction contracts for the SC 707 Widening Project working from project sites in Murrells Inlet, SC. We have an immediate need for an Senior Office Engineer to join our Construction Services Group, working on this project.
The SC 707 Widening project, a challenging and rewarding project, is expected to last for two more years. This project team will perform construction engineering and inspections for the widening (10 miles) of an existing roadway from two to five lanes with curb & gutter and sidewalk. This construction will also include two flat-slab bridges associated with the widening, along with sound wall installations. An advanced clearing and grubbing contract and relocation of all utilities prior to the roadway construction has been completed. The Senior Office Engineer will provide direct support to the Resident Engineer for this project, independently managing the construction office.
Job Duties include:
Establishing and maintaining the project document control system
Reviewing and logging all incoming and outgoing correspondence
Preparing/processing progress payments to contractors
Preparing change orders
Providing administrative supervision of the contractor’s activities
Representing the Resident Engineer in meetings (as needed)
Drafting letters on management’s behalf
Supervise more Junior administrative staff
Performing other duties as assigned
Bachelor of Science degree (major in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or a Construction-related field preferred).
A minimum of 5 years of Office Engineering experience
The ability to read and understand plans and specifications
The ability to perform measurements and calculation for payments
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
The ability to work as part of a team
NICET III/IV, ACI, EIT, OSHA -10, or other relevant certification preferred.
Experience working on roadway/highway projects, particularly with SCDOT, is highly desirable!
