The Department of Radiation Oncology is seeking radiation oncologists interested in treatment of head and neck, CNS and breast cancers. The academic appointment will be at the rank of Assistant, Associate or full Professor based upon experience and qualifications.
Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree from an ACGME-approved medical school or equivalent and have completed a radiation oncology residency program from an approved institution. A substantial record of excellence in clinical care accompanied by a strong publication record will be required. Board certification or eligibility in Radiation Oncology and eligibility for Texas medical licensure are also required. Significant experience and interest in translational research is preferred. Candidates should have an interest in initiating new projects and collaborative research with other departments. Applicants should have strong interpersonal skills and motivation for administering and teaching housestaff and medical students.
UT Southwestern is a leading institution conducting academic research. The Department of Radiation Oncology is a leader in the development and clinical implementation of innovative treatment strategies. The department currently has a total of 19 M.D. physicians and 12 medical residents. The Division of Medical Physics and Engineering currently has 24 faculty-level physicists, nine full time dosimetrists, three research/service engineers, five IT specialists and many postdoctoral researchers and graduate students. We currently provide patient care to over 190 patients per day, many treated with state-of-the-art machines and techniques. The clinical practice recently relocated to a 63,000 square foot building, the largest individual facility for radiation oncology in North Texas. Our equipment includes two Elekta Versa linear accelerators, two Varian Vital linacs, two Varian TrueBeam linacs, a Philips 16-slice Brilliance large-bore 4-D CT simulator, Varian Eclipse planning system, Varisource HDR, a dedicated breast SBRT device (Gammapod), the next generation Accuray Cyberknife M6, and an Elekta Icon GammaKnife.
