Manages a comprehensive staffing program to meet the fluctuating needs of the Inova Health System.
Analyzes staffing data, reports, and feedback from facility leadership to identify areas of need.
Develops an employee-oriented culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, employee retention and development, and high performance.
Leverages technology to improve work processes.
Creates, maintains and facilitates implementations of systems and databases to ensure optimum performance of automated systems.
Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate a process and determine the key components of that process as well as the issues that are constraining that process.
Manages operational finances, including budgeting and control of salary, non-salary, and capital investment expenses.
Directs activities that manage systems for clinical productivity, nursing quality, acuity measurement, automated staffing systems.
Oversees the coordination and preparation of annual operating plan, to ensure consistency with Inova's goals, specifically maintaining all FTE and Salary Budgets.
Collaborates with the Director, Nurse Staffing Resources and HR regarding workforce planning, staffing, and agency management.
Serves as a clinical and nursing expert regarding resource management, and serves as liaison specifically to the Finance and Human Resources departments.
Provides direction and management to direct reports and all employees in department. Handles employee relations and staff development for direct reports. Develop goals and manages fiscal activities of the department.
Requirements 5 years of experience in relevant work environment with 2 years in a management or leadership role. (Prefer 7-10 years)
Extensive nursing leadership experience demonstrated through progressively responsible nursing leadership roles. Extensive experience with contemporary systems for measurement of patient acuity, nursing productivity, automated staffing systems, budgets, and financial matters. A track record of successes in implementing innovative models for resource management, agency reduction, staffing models, and turnover reduction. Successes in teaching and mentoring front-line and mid-level managers regarding clinical resource management. An in-depth understanding of the national nursing workforce trends and progressive models & strategies. Experience in or completion of an internship or residency in a healthcare finance or accounting division or work experience with a CFO.
Bachelors Degree in Nursing or in a healthcare industry focus, or Masters Degree in Healthcare Management and equivalent years of professional work experience.
Exceptional written and spoken command of English, with the ability to communicate and present detailed information at a high level. Expert user of Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to learn new computer applications quickly.
