Cobham is seeking a Government- Cost Accountant III that will develop, analyze, evaluate, coordinate, prepare and oversee cost proposals to government and commercial customers. This position is located in Davenport, IA.
- Conducts cost, schedule, contract performance, variance and risk analysis and prepares reportsas required.
Research and analyze historical data, and work with detail data and maintain traceability to a summary level.
Develop spreadsheet models and create fully compliant cost proposals while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Participates in development of cost controls, procedures, systems and forecasting techniques toevaluate contract or program status ensuring compliance with government and customer requirements.
Conducts financial and operational audits by examining and verifying accounting statistical or operational records and/or procedures of internal and/or external organizations to determine the reliability and effectiveness of financial control systems.
Analyze and respond to customer fact-findings and external audits.
Manage cost accounting for the organization including inventory records and transactions.
Responsible for direct oversight of direct reports.
Examines records to ensure proper recording of transactions in compliance with applicable laws, agreements and policies.
Prepares reports of findings and recommendations to management.
May support Divisions and Subsidiaries in evaluating and recommending improvements tobusiness practices, processes and control procedures.
Performs all operations according to prescribed safety and environmental principles.
All other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Accounting or Finance required.
- 5+ years of recent cost accounting experience
- This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled byexport laws of the US. In order to be eligible you must be either a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Transactional accounting experience
- Prior experience using Oracle
- Prior experience in investigation by exception and variance.
