Cobham is seeking a Government- Cost Accountant III that will develop, analyze, evaluate, coordinate, prepare and oversee cost proposals to government and commercial customers. This position is located in Davenport, IA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts cost, schedule, contract performance, variance and risk analysis and prepares reportsas required.
  • Research and analyze historical data, and work with detail data and maintain traceability to a summary level.

  • Develop spreadsheet models and create fully compliant cost proposals while ensuring accuracy and compliance.

  • Participates in development of cost controls, procedures, systems and forecasting techniques toevaluate contract or program status ensuring compliance with government and customer requirements.

  • Conducts financial and operational audits by examining and verifying accounting statistical or operational records and/or procedures of internal and/or external organizations to determine the reliability and effectiveness of financial control systems.

  • Analyze and respond to customer fact-findings and external audits.

  • Manage cost accounting for the organization including inventory records and transactions.

  • Responsible for direct oversight of direct reports.

  • Examines records to ensure proper recording of transactions in compliance with applicable laws, agreements and policies.

  • Prepares reports of findings and recommendations to management.

  • May support Divisions and Subsidiaries in evaluating and recommending improvements tobusiness practices, processes and control procedures.

  • Performs all operations according to prescribed safety and environmental principles.

  • All other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in  Accounting or Finance required. 
  • 5+ years of recent cost accounting experience
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled byexport laws of the US.  In order to be eligible you must be either a US Citizen or Permanent Resident. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Transactional accounting experience
  • Prior experience using Oracle
  • Prior experience in investigation by exception and variance.
