Job Description

The Rotational Key Account Manager is a training role intended to develop the incumbent to assume a Key Account Manager role – Key Account Managers are those charged with overseeing Bridgestone’s most important customer accounts. A major focus of the development of this role will be the Joint Business Planning Process (JBP) as it is used with other key accounts. Implementing JBP across all of our key accounts is a strategic initiative for Bridgestone Americas, and this role will be instrumental in growing JBP. This position will also gain immediate hands-on management experience through responsibility for a key account – BJ’s Wholesale – which includes driving our sales by building strong relationships, comprehending their business needs and promoting our company’s solutions. The responsibilities also entail forecasting, administrative duties, and managing the day-to-day interaction with the upper and field management of BJ’s. Through a series of focused training phases, the incumbent will gain an understanding of the strategies, objectives, analytics, programs, challenges, negotiations/contracts and customer base that are all an integral part to the success of a Key Account Manager. The role will be based in Nashville, but will require extensive travel.


  • Develop and implement strategies, manage sell-in and sell-out activities to increase sales from 150k units to 250k+ units annually (to include promotions and point-of-purchase marketing)
  • Act as a sales/business consultant reviewing sales and market trends to a diverse customer base
  • Acquire a thorough understanding of key account needs, and expanding the relationship by proposing solutions that meet their objectives; create win-win scenarios when solving customer issues
  • Provide education for customers on Bridgestone products and programs consistent with their distribution area
  • Become an active member of the New Product Planning team with a focus on ensuring that the customer needs are better met with new products
  • Train under the Consumer Joint Business Planning Lead to apply and improve upon the approach with key accounts
  • Balance associated account management responsibilities with developmental training with other key account leads


  • BachelorDegree, plus 5years’ experience in field sales or comparable role
  • MBA preferred
  • 7-10 years of comparable experiencepreferred
  • Demonstrated success building strategic relationships
  • Ability to creatively solve problems that satisfy a diverse set of stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel (creating and maintaining spreadsheets) and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational skills; project management experiencepreferred
  • B2B OR B2C salesexperience and/or tire knowledge
  • Willingness to travel (>60%)
