Summary and Overview of Position

Directs and coordinates processes involved in property and casualty ratemaking. Prepares rate change indications and various other work products and analysis utilizing generally accepted actuarial practices. Provides guidance and expertise throughout the Companies on actuarial matters. Participates in development and maintenance of the Actuarial information data systems. Researches and implements new ratemaking, reserving and otheractuarial practices in support of the Companies' goals. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Essential Duties

  • Directs and coordinates processes involved in property and casualty ratemaking.
  • Prepares rate change indications and various other work products and analysis utilizing generally accepted actuarial practices.
  • Provides guidance and expertise throughout the Companies on actuarial matters.
  • In cooperation with out consulting actuaries, coordinates annual statement activities and necessary Company data detail.
  • Participate in development and maintenance of the Actuarial information data systems.
  • Researches and implements new ratemaking, reserving and otheractuarial practices in support of the Companies' goals.

Skills

  • Excellent ability in the use of advanced mathematics, probability and statistics.
  • Detailed knowledge and expertise regarding generally accepted actuarial practices.
  • Excellent ability to work effective with people throughout the organization.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information to a nontechnical audience.

Training

  • College degree in the fields of Mathematics and/or Statistics.
  • Attainment of the designation of Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society and membership in the American Academy of Actuaries.

Experience

  • Experiencewith PC programming and the use of data analysis tools.
  • SAS experiencepreferable.
  • Excellent performance for a minimum of 5years as an actuarial analyst, P & C Actuary or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities/Principal Accountabilities

  • Accountable for the accurate and timely completion of all needed work products using applicable generally accepted actuarial practices.
  • Accountable for investigating new actuarial methods and applying new methods as appropriate.
  • Oversees the maintenance and enhancement of the ratemaking information system.
  • Responsible for training and development of Actuarial Analysts.
