Cedar Springs Operations has an exciting opportunity for a talented  Maintenance Engineer to enhance the maintenance and operations at our Cedar Springs, Georgia facility. The Maintenance Engineer will own the mechanical equipment in the department and will be responsible for overseeing routine maintenance with mill personnel and contractors, diagnosing issues on the equipment, and ensuring that work is completed and maintained in a reliable state.  They will create job plans for the mill crews, as well as scope out jobs for contractors to perform.  They will manage the material for their area of responsibility and will supervise contractors and maintenance crews when needed.  This position reports to the Maintenance Area Leader and works closely with Maintenance Supervisors, Skilled Trades Employees, Engineering, Reliability, Operations, and Contractors to create the greatest long-term value for GP.   

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

  • Provide leadership in risk management, contractor safety, and mitigating safety issues in power and recovery operations.

  • Manage routine and extraordinary maintenance jobs for mill crews and contractors.

  • Lead in the troubleshooting of failed equipment and lead RCA meetings.

  • Material coordination that includes expediting, quoting prices, and ensuring right parts are available for job.

  • Contract management of contractors including scope of work, reviewing quotes, and creating payment authorizations.

  • Review inspection reports and recommend repair plans.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years as a Reliability/Manufacturing Engineer or experience in the reliability field in an industrial environment.
  • Must have good technical knowledge of lubrication strategies, mechanical power transmissions, hydraulics and pneumatics, bearings, pumps, fans, and other mechanical equipment typically found in a Pulp & Paper Mill or Manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of best practices for ensuring that equipment is installed and maintained in a reliable and predictable manner.

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Worked in the Pulp or Recaust department in a manufacturing facility as an Engineer, Planner, or Supervisor.

  • Knowledge of the Passport Asset Suite CMMS system

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
