Hot Section Engineering (HSE) at Pratt & Whitney is currently looking for an experienced and highly-motivated Design Engineer to join its team in support of commercial, military and industrial gas turbine engines. In this role, the Design Engineer will be responsible for completing technical assessments and analyses necessary to support design, development, validation, production implementation and management of new and operational engines flying across the globe. The Design Engineer will work with the various hardware that HSE owns including turbine airfoils, rotating hardware and static structures. In this role, the Design Engineer will be an integral member of a team working tasks and challenging problems focused on engine safety, reliability, capability, robustness and affordability. The Design Engineer will be expected to lead small teams (including outsourcing) and team with others outside HSE. Qualification: A minimum of five (5) years of experience in industry required. Strong proficiency and a demonstrated record of accomplishments in the Design discipline is expected. A broad understanding of the components owned by HSE and the associated analytical approaches applied to turbine airfoils, rotors, shafts, frames/cases, combustors and/or exhaust systems is desired. Proven history in leading or materially contributing to component and/or system root cause and/or safety investigations is preferred. Good communication are essential to be successful in this role. Certification in ACE or six-sigma as well as the ability to attain security clearance would benefit the candidate.
Education: B.S. degree in engineering is the minimum requirement for this position. Advanced degrees may benefit the candidate.
