We are looking for a Safety Software Technical Lead / Safety Manager.

The Professional Services Safety Software Technical Lead / Safety Manager requires demonstrated embedded domain experience in Avionics, Transportation, Power, Medical or related industries. Duties will include all activities related to the software development life cycle and in adherence to DO-178B/C, IEC 61508 and/or similar standards. The person in this position is expected to be a Technical Lead / Contributor able to work in a collaborative and fast-paced engineering environment. Strong written and oral communication is essential.

Preferredlocations include Chandler, AZ; Hudson, MA; Alameda, CA; San Diego, CA but otherlocations may be considered.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Excellent understanding of Software Requirements, Software Design, Coding and V&V activities and DO-178B/C and/or IEC 61508 related process
  • Support Certification Center of Excellence                     
    • Aid in the development of process and procedures related to the software development life cycle and in adherence to DO-178B/C and /or IEC 61508.
    • Develop and assist with the administration of training plans for junior staff.
    • Participate in the oversight of WW Safety / Certification Programs
  • Primary interface for Safety Certification of software; has a track record of being able to foresee and successfully meet customer needs
  • Participate in audits conducted by client and certification authorities, to explain all technical aspects of the software
  • Developing and reviewing documents that show compliance and traceability of system requirements, through software requirements, code and tests. 
  • Estimate scope, duration, and level or effort of proposed work, in conjunction with the Project Manager
  • Provide oversight for 3rd party consultants supporting Safety Certification software lifecycle.
  • Identification and estimation of technical project risks.
  • Collaboration and work with peer engineers in defining and reviewing the software requirements and design.
  • Review of code and certification artifacts developed by peers. 

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of 6 years of industry experience.
  • Expert knowledge DO-178B/C and IEC 61508 Software development lifecycles.
  • Prefer FAA DER Certification or the ability to become DER certified.
  • Solid people skills to actively influence the project team and direct interaction with customers and customer teams.
  • Proven ability to technically mentor and educate junior staff
  • Ability to multitask and provide technical leadership on a number of concurrent programs
  • Experience in Embedded Software development for safety critical applications
  • Working knowledge of tools in areas of requirement management, automated test, issue tracking, and configuration management.
  • Demonstrate analytical, debugging and problem solving skills
  • Hands-on experience on a RTOS (Real-time Operating System)
  • C programming for embedded systems.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and implement them.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills combined with a high motivation and the ability to multi-task.
  • Written and fluent spoken English is mandatory
  • Comfortable the Linux and Windows development environments
  • Self-motivated
  • Travelrequired
