The post-doctoral fellow will be involved in research studies of the molecular mechanisms associated with hearing and deafness and specifically support the completion, analyses, and publication of experiments in the lab of the Cornelia Marschall Smith Professor of Biology.
The post-doctoral fellow should have demonstrated ability to work independently without close supervision. Demonstration of the sientific knowledge and creativity to author publications in scientific journals. Demonstrated ability to perform and trouble-shoot experiments.

A post-doctoral position is available immediately in the Department of Biology at Baylor University to study different molecular mechanisms involved in the role of calcium binding proteins in the inner ear. Applicants should hold a doctorate degree in neuroscience, physiology, pharmacology, or a related area and have an interest in the molecular and cell biology of hearing and balance. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to have a strong work ethic, excellent organizational and communication skills, and critical thinking abilities. Previous publications should demonstrate expertise in the areas of calcium signaling, tissue and cell culture, patch clamping, molecular biology and transgenic mouse models, while experience with in vitro assays and FRET will be considered beneficial. Applicant will be expected to apply for extramural funding at the end of one year.
