The individual will manage activities of the Change and Configuration Management (CM and CfM) processes. The candidate must be able to function in various roles across both processes. In addition, the individual will be required to serve as a subject matter expert in the assigned areas of responsibility, as listed below.

  • Rejecting change requests (CRs) that are in violation of policies

  • Using the Change Module section of Remedy to submit and track the status of CRs

  • Uploading required information/documentation to the Change Request before submittal if needed

  • Providing additional documentation within 3 duty days upon request of Change Manager

  • Initiating advisory, review, and decision boards to clarify change requirements

  • Ensuring all change requests are accurately completed

  • Ensuring detailed operational risk analysis is performed using the Air Force Network (AFNET) Change Management Risk Assessment Tool

  • Validating priority/urgency of change requests

  • Ensuring availability of a change schedule

  • Disseminating change requests for voting member approval

  • Assigning approved change requests to Release Management

  • Performing Quality Assurance Representative role, as required

  • Training internal Change Sponsors

  • Reviewing change requests

  • Reporting on the current configuration status

  • Ensuring detailed operational risk analysis is performed using the AFNet Change Management Risk Assessment Tool

  • Advising on recommended changes

  • Verifying the completeness and correctness of a configuration

  • Updating the configuration baseline and identified configuration items in response to changes, to include the definitive media library (DML) and hardware store

  • Relating configuration items to change requests

  • Performing Quality Assurance Representative role, as required

  • Creating reports on the effectiveness, conformance, and value of Configuration Management and the CMDB across the Enterprise

  • Providing CfM reports, including management reports, impact analysis reports, and configuration status reports

  • Training staff in CfM principles and process activities

  • Coordinating, scheduling, and controlling releases to either the test/nonproduction or live operations/production environment

  • Ensuring detailed operational risk analysis is performed using the AFNet Change Management Risk Assessment Tool

  • Verifying two person control is identified/documented prior to change implementation

  • Ensuring minimal operational impact to the AFNet when the change is released

  • Ensuring the Service Release Agent has approved/documented implementation, test, and backout plan procedures

  • Conducting Post Implementation Reviews, monitoring the change in the operational environment to ensure the change was integrated properly and directs backout plan if required

  • Managing the change calendar

  • Managing the Service Interruption program

  • Validating assigned RFC Risk level using the AFNet Change Management Risk Assessment Tool

  • Managing SharePoint site for internal documents

  • Managing and overseeing document workflows via SharePoint

  • Assisting in secretariat duties for Technical Review Board and Configuration Control Board meetings

  • Recording new or updated CI Records in the CMDB

  • Maintaining current lifecycle status (where in the pipeline) information on CIs in the CMDB and providing this information as appropriate

  • Archiving superseded CI Records (ex: In Remedy CMDB the lifecycle status of being assembled, tested, deployed and retired)

  • Reporting on CIs (actual components) impacted by change requests and tracking the progress of the change to the CI (actual components) through to completion

  • Producing configuration status accounting reports

  • Assisting in conducting configuration audits IAW the CfM Plan

  • Identifying, recording and communicating issues relating to CIs and configuration management



  • Experience: 8 years of IT experience, specifically in change or configuration management. (A BA/BS may substitute for 4 years of experience.

  • An active Department of Defense SECRET clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required per clearance requirements.

  • Experience working with BMC Remedy

  • Prior DoD or USAF working environment experience a plus

  • Vendor training/certifications in Change or Configuration Management

  • ITIL Foundation training
