The Program

Here is your opportunity to work on the first ever high-speed rail program in the U.S. while growing your career on a groundbreaking project.  The California High-Speed Rail program will connect the mega-regions of the state, contribute to economic development and a cleaner environment, create jobs and preserve agricultural and protected lands.  By 2029, the system will run from San Francisco to the Los Angeles basin in under three hours at speeds of more than 200 miles per hour. The system will also extend to Sacramento and San Diego, totaling 800 miles with up to 24 stations.  

The Role

The California High Speed Rail Authority has awarded WSP USA the Program Management role within the Rail Delivery Partners (RDP) program delivery team.   As a result, we have an immediate opportunity for a Senior IT Manager, reporting into the IT Management team for the program, located in Sacramento, CA.  Key responsibilities include: 

  • Participate in status and project management meetings to ensure that work is being scheduled appropriately
  • Assist in the communication of project status via monthly summaries and serve as a point person for project questions
  • Support the management, scheduling, and follow up on project-related meetings
  • Facilitate requests by prioritizing and communicating priorities to teams
  • Help maintain project tracking for the IT projects needed by the program
  • Liaise between IT and other functions within the program

Job Requirements
The Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in CS, IT or a related field
  • At least seven years of relevant experience, preferably including Program/Project Management delivery using information systems on large scale programs or enterprises
  • Experience must include involvement with the State of California, either as a member of their staff or as an IT service provider
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and multitask
  • Technically adept to understand context of business needs within the IT department
  • Ability to interface with a wide range of technical disciplines
  • The ability to work in the United States immediately, local candidates preferred
