DescriptionMaterials Science and Advanced Technology Manager - Position Summary:
The Materials Science and Advanced Technology Manager applies broad and deep knowledge of products, materials, customer requirements and various engineering principles to balance and prioritize a broad mix of Technology Development and Business sustaining efforts.
The MSAT Manager manages supervisors, engineers, technicians and/or other technical associates to meet the daily and strategic requirements of the department. The manager is expected to establish the strategic direction and tactical priorities while influencing
the overall strategic direction of the Technology Development department, as well as executing the strategy. Responsibilities include the proactive identification and grooming of technical skills and competencies to ensure continuing growth of the department.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
? Work with Director of Innovation and Technology and senior staff to establish department priorities, project plans and metrics.
? Establish associate training and leadership development plans to support department needs.
? Determine budget requirements; monitor and control expenditures to meet established budgets.
? Work cross-functionally throughout the organization to understand and influence technology requirements with respect to materials science
? Establish requirements for analytical capability; develop and execute plans to ensure required capability
? Assist with strategic planning for functional area, establish objectives and define and prioritize key projects to support the plan.
? Continuously improve department function to increase productivity.
? Coordinate with other functional supervisors and managers to plan projects and allocate resources.
? Communicate department and company strategies with department.
? Communicate departmental project status to upper level management through appropriate written and oral communication means.
? Ensure effective capture of key lessons from technology development and business sustaining activities.
? Advise others with respect to technical problems and solutions.

RequirementsEducation and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Education: BS degree in a technical discipline (engineeringdegreepreferred). Appropriate continuous education. Master’s degree in Engineering or Business or equivalent skills and experience is desirable.
Experience: 5-10 years of experience in a technical field (mechanicalengineering or materials science preferred). Previous supervisory or managerial experience is required, including management of numerous simultaneous projects and priorities.
Skills/Knowledge: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability influence organizational priorities and interface with customers and distributors. Proven leadership capability including evaluating, encouraging,
motivating, disciplining and rewarding others. Agile ability to assess and establish priorities. Appliesexperience and knowledge at an organization level. Demonstrated ability to manage major and complex projects to completion. Ability to establish a vision
for positive change, develop a plan to attain that vision, and successfully execute that plan.
