Senior Principal System Security Engineer

As a Senior Principal System Security Engineer on our engineering team, you will support system protection activities for DoD programs. In this role, the system security engineer will work closely with the systems team lead to assess security of proposed products.



  • Lead the development and execution of the system security protection plan
  • Perform threat assessment for proposed products
  • Provide engineering support to the Integrated Product Teams to ensure the requiredsecurity controls are properly implemented in the developed information systems to meet the security requirements
  • Develop security controls assessment plans and procedures
  • Conduct security controls assessment to ensure compliance to the security requirements
  • Support program accreditation activities in accordance with the appropriate policies and processes
  • Perform system securityrisk management and mitigation
  • Analyze customer requirements
  • Participate as part of the Systems IPT to define requirements, decompose to lower-level requirements and coordinate with other functional areas to achieve design and development
  • Significant customer technical interface
  • Concept development, trade studies, systems architecture development, and systems integration and test activities
  • Participate in bid & proposal activities and develop proposal responses
  • Integration of hardware, firmware, and software for prototyping and system demonstration
  • Document problems, determining root cause and developing corrective actions to resolve
  • Support the development, documentation and execution of system verification
  • Interface with multiple engineering disciplines and manufacturing personnel
  • Participate in requirements, design, and code reviews
  • Comply with defined development processes

Required Skills

  • US Citizenship required.
  • Candidate must possess a US Government clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other related technical field
  • Experience in common tampering and reverse engineering techniques for software, firmware, and hardware including methods for preventing them
  • Experience with hardware/software testing methodologies
  • Strong computer or software technical background
  • Experience with DoD/Government programs, either as a government representative or contractor
  • Experience managing requirements across large, multi-disciplined development program
  • Proven history on complex Systems & Software Development/Support programs
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of work days (peak travel, not average)

Desired Skills

  • Masters degree in Computer Engineering, ElectricalEngineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical field
  • Strong analytical skills building on Statistics, Systems Engineering courses, or ReliabilityEngineering courses
  • Familiarity with requirements generation using DOORS, or DOORS import/export tools, or other requirements management tools
  • Experience in FPGA development (VHDL or Verilog) or software development
  • Knowledge of operating system concepts
  • Experience with Failure Analysis tools
  • Experience with embedded systems and embedded operating systems, including board support, cross-compilers, boot images, remote debugging, etc.
  • Experience with encryption protocols
  • 10+ years of relevant experiencedesired, but skillset and proven past performance will be rated more importantly than years of service
  • Experience working in an Integrate Product Team environment
