Summary:

Recovery and Resolution Planning is a critical Dodd-Frank regulation that requires banks to develop strategies, actions, and execution plans to recover from extremefinancial stress and, in the event of a failure, to resolve the bank with minimal losses to depositors.  The plan includes considerations from across all parts of the organization and all major risks, including liquidity, capital, and operations.  Capital One is in the early stages of Resolution planning and is completing its first Recovery Plan.

The Director of RRPO will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end development and delivery of the Recovery Plan, as well as the finance-portion of the Resolution Plan.  The Director will also drive the development of a sustainable, automated, and well-controlled process to deliver the plans as well enable execution during resolution or recovery states.  Finally, the director will be responsible for developing junior members of the team and further the vision of the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee activities and direct team to ensure a successful plan production
  • Drive the design and assumptions as required for any financial scenario analysis
  • Manage the program and related processes effectively, including planning, flawless execution, and robust governance and controls
  • Building and managing relationships with stakeholders
  • Understanding regulatory feedback and translating into deliverables for the organization
  • Drive consensus and buy-in from senior management on key decisions
  • Help with written communications to the various management committees and the Board of Directors

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 7 years’ experience in Regulatory Finance work, or at least 7 years’ experience in Balance Sheet Management work
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Capital Risk Management, or at least 3 years’ experience in Liquidity Risk Management, or at least 3 years’ experience in Enterprise Risk Management
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Resolution and Recovery Planning
  • At least 3 years’ people management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA), or Master’s Degree in Finance, or Master’s Degree in Economics, or Master’s Degree in Accounting, or Master’s Degree in a related field of study 
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license, or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
  • 10+ years’ experience in Regulatory Finance within a Financial Institution, or 10+ years’ experience in Risk Management within a Financial Institution
  • 5+ years’ experience in Capital Risk Management, or 5+ years’ experience in Liquidity Risk Management, or 5+ years’ experience in Enterprise Risk Management
  • 1+ years’ experience in Resolution and Recovery Planning
  • 4+ years’ people management experience including both direct & indirect reports
