The main goal of this role is to develop – at times from ground-zero – strategic partnerships.  This includes all facets of development from deal construct and ideation, key term development, financial business case and negotiation of contract, as well as, integration with business unit delivery/build teams.   Job responsibilities include: 

  • Work cross-functionally within Chase Card Services and JPMC and externally in the market to develop and renew strategic partnerships to support new and existing market segments.  This includes, but is not limited to rewards, co-branded consumer, commercial, corporate or purchase card products.
  • Identify, engage and secure strategic card partnerships that:
    • Increase Chase cardholder engagement across different customer and product segments through reward and redemption opportunities
    • Grow top-line metrics aligned with overall business goals
    • Expand acceptance of Chase cards.
    • Increase card distribution and sales/spend on Chase cards
  • Collaboratively develop strategy and business proposal with cross-functional peers for respective deals and partnership ‘pitches’
  • Develops and delivers partnership ‘pitches’ for deals under responsibility- ensuring data shared is accurate and appropriate to share
  • Work in conjunction with Finance, legal and other teams to develop financial business case, deal constructs and other key terms associated with partnership
  • Collaborate with business General Managers to secure renewals or any desired changes for current partners
  • Develops and implements negotiation strategies required to win deals or renewals
  • Assist in driving the broad Business Development strategy for the organization, including cross Line of Business.
  • Ensure all deals and business development is executed in accordance with policies, controls and BD procedures
  • May manage direct or indirect associates as part of responsibilities
  • Must have partnership or strategic alliance development experience
  • Must have negotiation, contracting or other expertise
  • Ability to work independently and create goals and vision for delivery in ambiguous or new situations
  • Deep understanding of financials, mechanics of forecasting and variable sensitivity
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and insightful analytical skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and clearly articulate objectives and the required path(s) to implement new process/program.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, with desire of using both in collaboration with potential partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent influencing-without-authority skills
  • Sense of urgency with disposition to execute and a demonstrated career of successful program implementations.
  • Minimum 10 years industry experience, preferably across issuing, acquiring and rewards/loyalty management organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving strategy within a large multi-segment organization, preferably in the payments industry.
  • Experience in managing people on small to mid-sized teams.
  • BS degree or equivalent experiencerequired, MBA preferred.
  • Proven exceptional relationship building skills inside and outside the organization.
  • Proven experience in working across departments, lines of business within large organizations.
  • Experience in strategic Business Development within financial services environment is preferred.
