Aerospace representative and technical liaison in support of Air Force Falcon fleet surveillance of testing and manufacturing activities at SpaceX’s facility in McGregor, TX. The position is within the Alternative Launch Vehicle (ALV) Sub-Division in the Launch Systems Division and will be responsible for monitoring and supporting the evaluation of ongoing testing and manufacturing activities, as well as coordinate technical and process issues with the ALV program office and technical teams in El Segundo, CA and the Air Force.

Key Functions

  • Evaluate contractor testing and processing of launch system hardware at the SpaceX test facility in McGregor, TX as part of The Aerospace Corporation support to Air Force Falcon fleet surveillance activities
  • Establish working level relationships with the SpaceX team, the on-site NASA team, and other on-site Govt representatives
  • Evaluate and track development,qualificationand acceptance test activities at the SpaceX facility in McGregor, TX
    • This includes all testing associated with Falcon Launch System hardware, (e.g. engines, vehicle structures,  testing, separation systems and all other testing associated with the Falcon launch system)
    • Participate in test data review, reviewing issues, and failure analysis
    • Supporting engineering in processing and evaluating test data
    • Evaluate contractor process discipline in documenting issues and performing corrective actions
    • Evaluate contractor process control and ability to inspect and test hardware per specified procedures
    • Provide insight on activities and issues to the program office and engineering team in El Segundo, CA (both hardware specific and facility related)
  • Evaluate and track hardware processing andotheractivities at the SpaceX facility in McGregor, TX
    • Follow incoming and outgoing flight hardware as well as flight recovered hardware
    • Evaluate contractor process discipline in handling and transporting major hardware, including following procedures for hardware and personnel safety
    • Follow and track issues, and risks discovered in or originating from the McGregor facility
    • Provide insight to the program office and engineering team in El Segundo, CA
  • Develop an understanding of the processes and procedures implemented at the McGregor facility
    • Develop expertise in utilizing SpaceX data systems available to the NECT
    • Track changes to their processes and procedures (testing and hardware processing)
    • Provide insight to the program office and engineering team in El Segundo, CA



  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution
  • 8 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including experience in a systems engineering and/or program management environment
  • Experience with testing, test data evaluation, and data reduction
  • Occasional travel between and McGregor, TX and El Segundo, CA for coordination
  • Current Secret clearance or ability to obtain a clearance



  • Experience with liquid rocket engine testing
  • Experience with testing of launch vehicle structures
  • Background in propulsion and experience with launch vehicles
  • Experience with manufacturing processes and facility operations
  • Able to effectively work remotely and independently
  • Exhibit high level of innovation, creativeness, and initiative
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers
  • Broad internal recognition from peers and Aerospace program office
