Description: Acelero Learning is a pioneering provider of early childhood education and family engagement services through our three business units, all focused on closing the achievement gap for thousands of Head Start children and families across the country.  With over $50 million in revenue and unparalleled child outcome data, we are both one of the largest and one of the most innovative companies in our space.                Acelero Learning is a provider of direct Head Start services in four states (New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Nevada and Wisconsin)             Shine Assist, part of our Shine Early Learning division, is a training and technical assistance unit which partners with other Head Start providers to improve their programs through hands-on training, access to our proprietary tools which have demonstrable impact on child outcomes, and the use of our Shine Insight data system.             Shine Implement, the newest unit within Shine Early Learning, manages the delivery of Head Start services for a select group of partners through a suite of services including oversight of educational, family services and program design activities, provision of our proprietary tools, and the use of our Shine Insight data system.   We are seeking a Director of Family Services, Health & Nutrition Transitions to join our Shine Early Learning team.  

Job Summary:

This role will be responsible for supporting our Shine Implement partners through start up processes and ongoing support to achieve full implementation of all aspects of Shine Early Learning’s family engagement approach, health and nutrition with the goal of building organizations capable of executing high quality two generation strategies to support families of young  children, build nurturing environments to promote their children’s school readiness and healthy development.  Geography of this position is flexible as the position will require extensive travel to transitioning Shine Implement programs across the country as needed and up to 75% of time.


Job Responsibilities:

The Director of Family Services,Health  and Nutrition Transitions contributes to our mission through the following activities and responsibilities:


  • Staff Hiring and Onboarding: In collaboration with Human Resources, plans and oversees interview, hiring, and onboarding process of all family service and health staffing positions as identified in the partner’s organizational structure, including but not limited to Family Service and Health Director, Family Engagement and Health Coordinators, Family Engagement Advocates, Health and Disabilities Advocates, ERSEA Specialists, etc.

  • Program Recruitment and Enrollment: Oversees and assists the program to develop systems for eligibility, recruitment, selection, and enrollment/ intake process for returning and new families, including the development of a comprehensive recruitment plan that will lead to the program becoming fully enrolled.

  • Child Health and Wellness: Assists the transitioning program to put in place the internal systems and external partnerships to assure that all children participating in the program are up to date on EPSDT preventive care and follow up evaluation and treatment, have access to high quality medical and dental homes and health insurance

  • Model Fidelity: Provides training and technical assistance guidance to help Shine Implement partners adapt Acelero Learning’s core program strategies in order to achieve each of Acelero Learning’s three family engagement goals, which include: strengthening family engagement with all families to encourage parent/child interactions that will help close the achievement gap, segmenting and providing individualized family support to motivated families according to self-identified needs and aspirations, and building social capital among families to sustain their engagement and support for one another over time.

  • Partner Management:Takes responsibility for managing Family and Community Engagement strategic planning and implementation support for Shine Implement partners.  In this role, the candidate will be required to work effectively in a matrix with Head Start Program Operations, Shine Early Learning and Shine Implement partner leadership to monitor start-up benchmarks and refine support strategies to assure successful startup and transition

  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Ensures all record keeping and reporting systems are established and meet Acelero Learning and state licensing guidelines.  Coordinate with Shine Insight database team to assure that staff receive appropriate training to maintain up to date and accurate documentation.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Family and Child Development, Social Work, Public Health, Public Administration, Public Policy or relevant field, Master's degreepreferred.  

  • Bilingual Preferred (Spanish/English)

  • Expertise in starting up community based interventions to improve outcomes for low-income families and communities, with direct experience developing and implementing program strategies

  • 3+ years experience in the family and community engagement field, including experience in coaching, supervision, program management and providing technical assistance

  • Strong analytical skills in order to quickly assess situations, identify trends, develop solutions and apply critical assessments to the larger context

  • Ability to quickly learn and interpret government procedures and regulations

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work as part of a team, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, receive and provide feedback and manage dynamic interchanges in meetings

  • Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to successfully implement program plans

  • Ability and willingness to travel (up to 75% of time)

  • Pass physical examination, background check, and fingerprint screening
