Business Systems Analyst II -

Position Summary  

Conduct business process analysis, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefits analyses in an effort to align information technology solutions with business initiatives. May prepare functional, system and program specifications. Provides project management support to project managers with general supervision. Monitors progress of system projects and provides project statuses.  May plan and assist in implementation of systems. Essential Accountabilities  

•       Ability to work effectively with little direct supervision.

•       Responsible for producing technical systems documentation including: business requirements, functional specifications, user requirements, traceability matrix, risks, project schedules, and implementation plans.

•       Communicates with both technical and business users to understand requirements and translates into technical specification when necessary.

•       Leverage experiences and knowledge of software development and software architecture best-practices to assist the development team during the execution phase of the project.

•       May assist in the analysis of defects and enhancements to determine severity and priority as well as overall validity.

•       Participate in project execution (budget, schedule, risks, quality, meeting minutes, deliverables, etc) to deliver the desired outcome to the project`s stakeholders.

•       Reports statuses to project management staff while managing expectations of project deliverables.

•       Helps to ensure that project activities are completed in accordance with applicable Federal Reserve standards, such as Technology Project Standards (TPS) and CPO Application Development Methodology (ADM).

•       Maintains project artifacts in electronic repository per department policies/practices.

•       Performs other duties as assigned.

•       Adheres to the Bank's attendance policies through regular and prompt attendance. Business Systems Analyst III - Position Summary   Analyzes complex business problems to be solved with automated systems. Provides expertise and assistance in the development or modification of small to moderately complex information systems. Creates specifications for systems to meet business requirements. May plan and assist in implementation of systems.  May lead cross-functional linked teams to address business or systems issues.  May provide project management support with minimal supervision. 

May assume primary responsibility for one or more project management sub-processes. Monitors progress of system projects and provides project statuses and advice to management as necessary. Essential Accountabilities  

•       Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and can act independently when required.

•       Working with small to medium sized teams, may lead efforts to create technical systems documentation including: business requirements, functional specifications, user requirements, traceability matrix, risks, project schedules, and implementation plans.

•       Acts as the primary conduit in communicating with both technical and business users to understand requirements, translating into technical specifications when necessary.

•       Participates or leads the effort to gather requirements, use case development, documentation, impact assessments, system maintenance, process improvement opportunities, and collaborate with team members to develop solutions that achieve accuracy and transparency within systems development.

•       May coordinate project execution (budget, schedule, risks, quality, meeting minutes, deliverables, etc) of one or project management processes to deliver the desired outcome to the project`s stakeholders.

•       Reports statuses to project managers as well as senior management in clear concise reports or presentations both verbally and in written format. 

•       Ensures project activities are completed in accordance with applicable Federal Reserve standards, such as Technology Project Standards (TPS) and CPO Application Development Methodology (ADM).

•       Maintains project artifacts in electronic repository per department policies/practices. 

•       Performs other duties as assigned.

Sr. Business Systems Analyst - Position Summary   Responsible for formulating and defining systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and related industry requirements. With this knowledge, assists in the development or modification of moderately complex information systems. Includes analysis of business and user needs, documenting requirements. May lead cross-functional linked teams to address business or systems issues.  May provide advanced project management including assuming responsibility for one or more project management sub-processes with minimal supervision. 

May lead a project, with supervision. Guides and advises less-experienced Business Systems Analysts. Competent to work in some phases of systems analysis and considers the business implications of the application of technology to the current business environment.    Essential Accountabilities  

•       Ability to work effectively without direct supervision, addresses issues with creativity, and generates ideas which contribute to the attainment of stated goals.

•       Working with small to medium sized teams, may lead efforts to create technical systems documentation including: business requirements, functional specifications, user requirements, traceability matrix, risks, project schedules, and implementation plans.

•       Recommends and implements project activities and/or modifications of project activities in support of information system projects or programs.

•       May specialize in one or more key areas of knowledge. Capable of developing, implementing and managing these key areas without formal direction from superiors.

•       Leads the effort to resolve issues/problems of moderate to complex scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.

•       May manage project execution (budget, schedule, risks, quality, meeting minutes, deliverables, etc) of one or project management processes to deliver the desired outcome to the project`s stakeholders.

•       Ensures project activities are completed in accordance with applicable Federal Reserve standards, such as Technology Project Standards and CPO Application Development Methodology (TPS/ADM) project management principles and processes, as well as knowledge of the standard Software Development Framework (SDF).

•       Maintains project artifacts in electronic repository per department policies/practices.

•       Performs other duties as assigned.

•       Adheres to the Bank's attendance policies through regular and prompt attendance.  Business Systems Analyst II Education and Experience  

•       Bachelor`s degree with 3+ years related experience    Knowledge and Skills  

•       Must possess ability to bridge the business/IT divide in a way that establishes rapport and gains understanding.

•       Must possess a good understanding of business requirement development and analysis including: use cases, functional specifications, user interface specifications, etc.) Agileexperience (preferred)

•       Must possess solid business acumen, strong oral and written communication skills.

•       Advanced troubleshooting and problem solving skills.

•       Strong analytical, multitasking, and time management skills.

•       Ability to influence successfully in a highly matrix or virtual organization. Business Systems Analyst III  

Education and Experience  

•       Bachelor`s degree with 5+ years related experience    Knowledge and Skills  

•       Must possess ability to bridge the business/IT divide in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others and gains understanding and trust.

•       Must possess strong business acumen, excellent oral and written communication skills. Agileexperience (preferred)

•       Ability to facilitate group sessions and model business processes to identify areas of improvement.

•       Advanced troubleshooting and problem solving skills.

•       Demonstrated leadership skills with proven collaboration techniques.

•       Strong analytical, multitasking, and time management skills.

•       Ability to lead and influence successfully in a highly matrix or virtual organization. Sr. Business Systems Analyst Education and Experience  

•       Bachelor`s degree, Masters preferred and 6+ years experience with FRB products focused on operational experience. Knowledge and Skills  

•       Must possess proven abilities to bridge the business/IT divide in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others and gains understanding and trust.

•       Demonstrated strong ability to facilitate group sessions and model business processes to identify areas of improvement.

•       Ability to apply job knowledge of and experience with FRB products, services and customers to efficiently and effectively document existing workflows and create new processes. Agileexperience (preferred)

•       Demonstrated personal initiative, excellent time management, project management, problem solving and organizational skills.

•       Strong leadership skills, verbal and written communication skills.

•       Ability to lead and influence successfully in a highly matrix or virtual organization. Physical Demands and General Working Conditions for all Positions  

•       Employees typically sit most of the day, work with a computer and may answer/respond to phone calls.  Physical movement consists of walking for meetings, breaks, etc. Ability to lift items weighing approximately 20 pounds on a limited basis is required.  Employees may be required to travel by car/air.
