Job Position: Environmental Health and Safety Manager

This position will be responsible for implementation of EHS program and policies in Delaware manufacturing facility (BMCD).  Performs EHS professional work to protect workers, and environmental resources. Provides technical safety and health support to workers located in our East Coast region.  Develops safety and health programs and objectives, coordinates safety training programs, monitors safety and health regulations, retains EHS documentation, and provide technical support to plant and corporate personnel to ensure compliance with corporate, Federal and State safety and health regulations.    

Location: This position will be based in Newark, Delaware 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Supports the corporate EHS organization in Sunnyvale in the development, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of Environmental Health and Safety programs for the Delaware manufacturing facility, ensuring compliance with corporate, Federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Conducts investigations and root cause analysis and make resolution recommendations. Tracks to completion the corrective/preventative actions and continuous improvement activities as directed.
  • Assists in job hazard assessments (JSA/JHA) by participating in processes and procedures and incorporating industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Participates in EHS site audits, inspections and routine surveys including the developing and drafting of audit documentation, tracking corrective actions, and monitoring trends in results of audit activities.
  • Maintains EHS files and records. This includes injury logs, OSHA logs and EPA permits. Maintains and implements compliance tracking programs and recordkeeping systems.
  • Assists in the development of technical documents including Work Instructions, EHS procedures, safety alerts, and guidance documents.
  • Use Excel or other programs to records data and compile it into statistical analyses and reports.
  • Monitors environmental compliance issues and provides assistance with workplace safety matters. Performs and/or oversees environmental monitoring for facility discharges, hazardous materials, storm water management and environmental related permits.
  • Assists in maintaining, updating and coordinating EHS training programs. Provide training for OSHA regulatory topics such as Electrical Safety, LOTO, Forklift, Hazard communication and other programs.
  • Facilitates the safety committee meetings. Attends meetings, workshops, training, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions. May respond to emergency situations.
  • Performs additional functions incidental to health and safety activities such as air and noise industrial hygiene monitoring

Skills and Experience:

  • BS in Environmental Health Sciences, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and related Engineering.
  • 8 to 10 or more years of experience in environmental Safety & Health, preferably within a manufacturing and/or energy organization
  • Understand DOT, EPA, OSHA regulations, and NFPA standards
  • Have advanced Industrial Hygiene, occupational safety, hazardous waste, hazardous material knowledge
  • Must have good interpersonal skills with the ability to build liaisons between the different company departments
  • Excellent skills using Excel, Power Point, and otherMS software
  • Presentation skills
