In this job, you will

• Perform all responsibilities in accordance with BECU Competencies, compliance, regulatory and Information Protection requirements.
• Meet with members in person to present mortgage loan options, focusing on creating and deepening member relationships through needs assessment, fulfillment, follow-up and identifying opportunities for cross-referrals.
• Contact members via phone, email or mail for purposes of documentation collection in conjunction with a sale, but conduct majority of selling activities in person and through real estate agents
• Serve as the first point of contact for products, services and processes related to mortgage application through funding and as an escalation point for member issues and concerns.
• Create and deepen mortgage sourcing relationships including agents, builders and other professionals within personal sphere of influence. Generate new mortgage relationships through prospecting and lead generation.
• Develop and maintain an expert level of knowledge of all mortgage products and programs.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures as well as applicable regulations.
• Recruit, manage, develop and retain a small team of sales employees who manage a sales pipeline, deepen mortgage sourcing relationships and generate new mortgage relationships through prospecting and lead generation. Meet with staff on a timely basis for the purpose of conducting performance evaluations and providing feedback.
• Represent BECU in the community, actively participating in community organizations and events to generate new mortgage business and educate others about mortgage products and services.
• Negotiate terms and conditions of loans with members in accordance with BECU policies and procedures.
• Review files referred utilizing automated underwriting programs, correct any deficiencies that would provide approval. Refer loans not approved by the automated underwriting programs to BECU underwriters.
• Ensure that all necessary reports are prepared, maintained, and monitored on a regular basis and provide any additional reports or statistical information as requested.
• Partner with senior leadership to develop yearly operating plan projections.
• Perform additional duties, as assigned.


• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work or education related experiencerequired.
• Minimum 5 years of mortgage loan sales experience including documented ability to self-generate mortgage volume of $12 million or greater annually required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience leading mortgage sales teams required.
• Highly developed mortgage sales and business development skills with internal partners, realtors and other referral partners required.
• Strong sales, prospecting, follow-up, relationship management and problem resolution skills required.
• Proficient verbal and written skills to effectively communicate and provide customer service required.
• Proficient math skills, with a high degree of accuracy required including the ability to perform complex income analysis required.
• Full-time hours required, with additional hours as necessary.
• Moderate travel required.
• Compliance with SAFE Act legislation, which requires annual registration as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO).
• Thorough knowledge of mortgage products and services, state and federal laws and regulations, and federal and state reporting requirements.
