Overview:

The Information Technology (IT) Project Manager manages, plans, and coordinates the full life cycle of IT projects forthe Air Combat Command (ACC), Communication Support Squadron (CSS), within the United States Air Force (USAF). This position ensures that all project goals and objectives are accomplished within the prescribed timeframe, budgetary parameters and to the customer’s satisfaction. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

The IT Project Manager works with the customer to plan, coordinate, and manage the execution and implementation ofIT / communications plans and programs, memorandum of agreements (MOA), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and other agreements.

Processes and tracks customer requirements, and engineer solutions.

Manages project implementation, planning requirements development and processing.

Develops and manages enterprise master integrated schedule, tracking milestones, major projects, and completion dates.

Provides logistics management oversight for unit systems.

Produces implementation plan for approved projects and programs.

Implements Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes to ensure highly reliable IT services.

Promotes and provides cost reduction, improved IT services, and customer satisfaction through a professional approach to service delivery.

Works to minimize energy consumption in order to meet percentage reduction requirements.

Follows environmental guidelines in the purchase and disposal of hardware or electronic equipment.

Coordinates initial design plans with civil engineers to ensure compliance with environmental and energy guidelines.

Incorporates innovative and emerging technologies that improve and support IT system performance and mission performance.

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by thecompany.

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way asto maximize personal output. 

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers.  Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources.  Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study and a minimum of two (2) years relevant experience; or Associates Degreewith a minimum of four (4) years relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of experience / education.

CERTIFICATES / LICENSES / REGISTRATION

Must be able to obtain Department of Defense Secret Clearance

Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification

JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

Strong working knowledge and proficiency in MS Project applied to a software development life cycle

Working knowledge of contracts management and logistics management capabilities for organizational systems

Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Skilled in facilitating teamwork and coordinating efforts for the successful achievement of goals

Excellent supervisory and management skills with ability to resolve conflicts, grievances, confrontations or disagreements in a constructive manner

Exceptional organization skills with ability to effectively manage multiple IT projects and priorities

Excellent verbal and written communications skills with solid presentation skills

Exceptional customer service and relationship-building skills

Ability to plan and oversee projects through the use of project management software tools and methodologies

Ability to schedule, plan and lead meetings

Ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability toeffectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions topractical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive varietyof technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
