Capital One is seeking a Senior Director of Architecture Practice and Governance as we transform our engineering practices enterprise wide. Our team lives on the bleeding edge of technology, working directly with world-class engineers to operationalize new ways of working by innovating processes, data analytics, and automating tasks. 

This role will be responsible for Capital Ones architecture standards and policies, as well as the management and compliance in relation to these standards.  It will involve team leadership, financial management, vendor engagement and managing business communications within the organization and with enterprise stakeholders. Strong communication skills are critical as you will be connecting business and technology, experience in managing stakeholder expectations, and expanding visibility and access to delivery of the organization holistically. We value leading teams over managing tasks, and adapting to change over conforming to plans. 

Responsibilities:

- Drive progress on organization-wide and/or high-level initiatives and ensure crucial deadlines are set and met

- Liaise with chief architects across the organization in efforts to develop common practices across architecture community

- Work closely with the Managing VP and senior leadership team to: 

-Coordinate the implementation of strategy and policy goals in accordance with leadership direction

-Set and align internal processes, standards and resources to strategize the direction and to advance the purpose of the organization

-Ensure that organization’s operational priorities are aligned with overall organizational direction and Capitol One priorities

- Drive organizational accountability by providing budget guidance for justified expenditures that align to division goals and objectives

-Identify new areas for growth and improvement in accordance with the overall organization strategy

- Setting division up for break-through thinking and initiatives

-Advance the division as a competitive employer by shaping the work environment and attract and retain talent

- Oversee divisions operations, staff, office administration functions, member relations, and other important operational functions

Basic Qualifications: 

- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent military experience

- At least 10 years of project/program and business office management leadership experience

- At least 10 years of technical leadership experience

- At least 5 years of proven enterprise wide architectural development and implementation experience

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Engineering

- 5+ years of business office management experience in technologyinfrastructure or application development domains

- 5+ years of experience as a solutions architect
