General: Oversight of tooling, programming, product design, process engineering, equipment procurement and maintenance, facility maintenance and upkeep, permit and license upkeep (environmental, FSC, fire door), quality and systems.
Safety: Generally responsible for the safety aspects of equipment and facilities.
Quality: Support of quality systems, documentation, product/process improvement activities, and communication of quality metrics.
Product - Process Development: Oversight of new product development, custom design, tooling design, equipment / process design, and implementation of these improvements.
Maintenance: General oversight of the maintenance department. The Maintenance Lead reports to the Engineering Manager.
Human Resources: Direct supervision of the engineering staff (tooling, design, manufacturing, & quality) and the Maintenance Lead.
Development / Training: Responsible for training with regards to new processes or equipment.
Purchasing: Oversight of tooling, maintenance, utility, engineering, waste/disposal, facilities, and R&D budgets.
Manufacturing: Support manufacturing on all technically related issues for both development and problem solving. Attend morning production meetings for communication purposes.
Qualification: 4 year college/university degree in an engineering discipline and 5 years experience in a technically related field.
Physical Demand / Work Environment: Some lifting of doors required for inspection purposes. Dusty, requires earplugs, and safety glasses when in factory, additional PPE by dept requirements.
Language Skills: English. Ability interpret prints and schematics, ability to write procedure instructions, ability to present to a group are required.
Mathematical Skills: General engineering math including a working understanding of statistics, trigonometry, geometry, engineeringfinance, and physical science mathematics.
Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and statistical programs is required.
Leadership Skills: Ability to effectively lead a technical team toward company goals.
Must be able to promote team work between technical and manufacturing departments, motivate direct reports toward improvement, and communicate effectively at all levels.
Problem Solving Skills: Strong technical, systemic, and personnel problem solving skills required.
