BAE Systems seeks a Chief Systems Engineer to join its Combat Mission Systems Support team in Colorado Springs.
The CMSS Chief Engineer drives sustainment of multiple families of space control systems including analysis of technical performance measures, obsolescence management, supply chain security, system modifications and upgrades, and cybersecurity concerns.
Plans sustainment requirement solutions to meet stated and anticipated customer needs. Recommends sustainment approaches, objectives, and risk mitigations. Leads and coordinates the activities of key technical personnel and other employees as required. Provides technical support in developing and maintaining the analysis to predict overall system performance, error margins and performance budgets, development and flow-down of systems requirements, error budget trees, performance modeling, and simulation and analysis.
Serves as an authority and consultant in complex technical disciplines for offensive and defensive space control mobile asset sustainment. Works across a broad range of disciplines to structure undefined problems, identify key technical issues and define alternative approaches and resolutions. Develops and applies advanced technologies, principles, and practices. Works in difficult areas requiring collaboration, creativity and ingenuity in identifying potential engineering solutions.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree and 15 years' work experience or equivalent experience

Adept at analyzing and resolving issues in a variety of complex situations without supervision or, as appropriate, developing and collaborating on recommendations for resolution of complex problems on short timelines.
Demonstrated ability to mentor high potential and other engineers in area(s) of expertise.
Ability to effectively communicate and/or exchange technical information personally and via electronic means for remote dialog and decision-making support.
Demonstrated experience supporting continuous process improvement efforts.
Experience leading teams and IPTs; using tools and metrics in managing activities; and interfacing with senior program and functional management.
Demonstrated technical leadership in multiple engineering domains (i.e. electronic systems, hardware, software).
Demonstrated leadership capability including ability to lead and influence technical, management, and customer community.
Good communication capability including the ability to directly engage and influence audiences in conflict situations.
