Job Description

Pomeroy is seeking a transformational leader for the enhancement of its data warehousing, business analytics and governance programs, that enable improved organizational performance through the effective utilization and consumption of data. This is both a technical role, and a functional, business-facing role, accountable for the end-to-end deployment of Pomeroy's Business Intelligence and reporting platform.

As Manager, you will drive the vision and strategy for our agile business intelligence offerings. This position will provide architecture leadership and oversight to internal development initiatives to effectively deliver cost effective and high-quality solutions. You will be responsible for actively working to improve the organization's data management practices, information management practices, and delivery of business intelligence applications that enhance business decision making. You will also be responsible for keeping current on emerging technologies and best practices associated with the development, use and governance of data analytics within a dynamic enterprise.

As a practitioner, you will have the unique opportunity to lead the development of Pomeroy's Business Intelligence and analytics solutions. You will work directly with business stakeholders along with team members to conceptualize, architect, design and deliver actionable insights in an agile environment.

You will work with all levels of the organization to facilitate requirement gathering and convert those requirements into solutions that provide valuable insights to both external and internal clients. You will be accountable for routine communication of results, capabilities, and issues to key stakeholders, and for forging strong relationships to raise the analytical acumen and capabilities within the organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    Develop strategy and a practical roadmap for an enterprise-wide BI reporting and analytics platform
    Define the overall data architecture framework including ETL processes, operational data store (ODS), enterprise data warehouse (EDW), and data marts
    Architect semantic layer and maintain associated metadata and data dictionary
    Collaborate with Data Stewards and business teams to ensure accurate, complete, and quality data is the foundation of our analytic platforms
    Work with data architects to ensure that logical and physical data models support the analytic needs of the business, adhere to standards and principles, and follow usability design standards
    Collaborate with key business users to identify needs and opportunities for improved data management and analytics through a variety of interviewing and facilitation techniques
    Provide technical guidance to projects and teams, ensuring that new initiatives enable effective reporting and analysis
    Design, coordinate, and execute pilots, prototypes or proof of concepts to validate business opportunities as well as oversee all BI related implementations across business functions
    Evangelize a self-service analytics delivery model and user community mindset
    Evaluate and define data requirements, data sources and data standardization transformation rules
    Develop Extract Transfer Load (ETL) processes in Integration Services packages as well as stored procedures, tables, indexes, views and any other needed database objects to support the ETL process
    Assist and train users in various data analyses and reporting techniques
    Identify, coordinate and help resolve the root cause of day-to-day production issues and streamline business intelligence processes
    Drive innovation. Research emerging business intelligence trends and technologies
    Provide assistance to BI team members with issues needing technical or complex systems expertise. Provide on-the-job training for new or less experienced team members.
    Identify intelligence needs of each department through one-to-one communications of key employees; duties specific to this function may include the assessment of the following: what decisions need to be made, why decisions need to be made, when decisions need to be made, and who will use the intelligence to make the decisions.
    Research and analyze areas of interest to the company which will allow the company to gain a competitive advantage.
    Gather information for project-related research; analyze that information; and produce reports based on the analyses.
    Participate in management meetings/pipeline meetings related to intelligence reporting.
    Prioritize, plan, and track project progress.
    Provide related intelligence reporting to the company.
    Maintain communications with direct contacts used for ongoing monitoring of the external environment and project-related research.
    Develop an understanding of each department's role within the company; maintain an advanced knowledge of their needs in the high-tech industry to remain competitive.
    Maintain an advanced knowledge of trends affecting the industry in all relevant areas including political and legal.
    Other projects related to Business Intelligence, as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Oversight of Business Intelligence team (6-8 employees)


Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

    Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related degree is required
    Master's Degree Preferred
    10+ years of experience designing and building of enterprise data warehouses and related processes
    Leadership and enablement of best practices in ETL design, development and scheduling methodologies
    5+ years of direct managerial experience
    5+ years of practical experience with Microsoft & Oracle's on-premise business intelligence stack:
    Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) 11g/12c
    Oracle Essbase
    Oracle Business Intelligence for Applications (OBIA)
    Oracle Data Integrator (ODI)
    SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
    SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
    Experience hosting and delivering cloud based analytic solutions
    Experience collaborating directly with a formal Master Data Management program and data governance programs
    Superior analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor
    Strong organizational, project management and process analysis skills
    Ability to effectively work and interact with customers and team members
    Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments and priorities
    Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
    Ability to influence cross-functionally in a rapidly evolving business environment
    Proven ability to function autonomously, anticipate deliverables, and self-manage
    Experience with data visualization platforms such as Tableau is preferred
    Predictive analytics modelling experience is preferred
    BI consulting experience is preferred

General Office Environment

Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
