The Director of Behavioral Health Services is a market level role. The Director is responsible for thegrowth of regional outpatient and ambulatory services within the service line; responsible for coordination of local integration of services within affiliated practices; supports service needs ofaffiliated hospitals within the defined region; liaison with local community resources affiliated withbehavioral health services. Accountable for the regional budgets for service line offerings – inclusive of assessing integrity of BH coding/billing/collections unique to the behavioral health services; sets operational goals for service delivery related to quality, safe, compassionate culturally competent care to individuals, families, groups and communities served.
Collaborates with organizational leaders and manages interdependencies across divisions to design and provide patient care and services including development of patient care programs, practice standards, and policies/procedures that are consistent and modeled after best practices across the organization. Participates with leaders from the medical group, management, and clinical areas in planning, prioritizing, promoting, and conducting organization-wide performance assessments and improvement activities.
The scope of this role within Behavioral Health Services includes: market-based Novant Health hospital outpatient and ambulatory BH services including affiliated hospitals and ambulatory clinics with themarket. Liaison to local community agencies and consumer groups that provide services to thepopulation served.
- Education: Master's degree required. Advanced (master’s level) degree in the behavioral sciences (nursing, social work, psychology or counseling) and an advanced degree in business or hospital administration preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of three years of leadership experience and current clinlcal knowledge ofthe BH service line required.
- Additional skills required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific competency assessment. Must possess strong business acumen and have experience contributing as a peer to others on the leadership team. Demonstrated leadership and complex organizationalmanagement skills. Well-developed planning, organizational development, and business skills. Theability to work with physicians, staff, and professional in multiple settings and locations and promotes diversity in the workplace.
