The Director, Operations is responsible for the operation, maintenance, engineering and management of operating facilities and pipelines in which Tenaska and its affiliates have ownership. This position is responsible for managing the daily operations of multiple facilities and assuring that all facilities are operated in compliance with applicable safety, environmental and contractual requirements. The Director, Operations will implement annual operating plans, benchmark plant efficiencies and maximize facility profitability. The position will also provide O&M input for development activities.
Scope of Responsibility:
This position requires the individual to execute judgement and fulfill a decision making role in an increasingly complex, operational and regulatory environment. Duties will be performed independently with only general directions given. Decisions are made based on guidelines if available and under the guidance of the Vice President, Operations. External contacts could include government officials, regulatory agency representatives and management of other organizations.
BS in Engineering with ten or more years of experience in the operations and maintenance of power generating facilities, including significant exposure to gas turbine power plants. MBA or significant experience relating to the business principles and practices of power generating facilities, specifically independent power producers. Demonstrated skills in environmental management, budget development/control, organizational development, and contract administration. History of development of innovative and creative problem solving approaches to improving various aspects of facility performance; including technical, personnel, and business. Must have strong leadership, motivational, and communication (oral and written) skills, including the ability to communicate effectively to large groups and make detailed presentations.
