Job Summary

Directs the manufacturing, maintenance, warehousing, and distribution operations to achieve plant production goals and efficiency measurements. Ensures compliance with all government regulations and corporate policies concerning safety, environment and employee relations. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

These are functions a qualified incumbent or applicant must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation. 

* Creates and maintains an environment in which supervisors and employees can efficiently utilize their skills, fulfill their responsibilities and maximize their potential.

* Develops and maintains quality systems and controls to ensure customer satisfaction.

* Develops and monitors the repair and preventive maintenance programs for equipment to achieve maximum running speeds while safeguarding corporate assets.

* Directs the efforts of plant supervision to enforce the consistent application of policies, procedures, and plant rules which may include the terms of a collective bargaining agreement.

* Monitors, trains, and communicates safety and quality programs and assures compliance with company policies and government regulations.

* Works with sales and marketing in developing new product lines along with improvements and modifications of existing products.

* Stays abreast of new trends and developments in methods, techniques, equipment, tools, materials, and supplies which might be incorporated into the production process to increase efficiency or better use resources.

* Position has authority to formulate, affect, interpret or implement management policies or operating practices (may have review/approval from a higher level).

* Position carries out major assignments in conducting the operations of the business.

* Position performs work that effects business operations to a substantial degree, even if position's assignments are related operation of a particular segment of the business.

* Position is involved in planning long- or short-term business objectives.

* Position investigates and resolves matters of significance on behalf of management.

* Performs other duties as assigned 

Other (Non-Essential} Functions

Includes functions which are normally performed by persons holding this title. However, these functions may be reassigned to other employees as part of a "Reasonable Accommodation" under the ADA. 

* Controls costs by proactively controlling expenses and elimination of waste.

* Contributes to a team effort by proactively assisting internal contacts.

* Attend training programs to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills.

* All other duties assigned.

Job Requirements

* The minimum educationrequired for this position is Some College or an Associates Degree.

* The minimum related experiencerequired for this position is 5 to 7 years. Requires prior management, supervisory or team leader experience.

* Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

* Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures and numerical data. Ability to write simple reports and general business correspondence; Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, customers and employees. Basic knowledge of the process and quality requirements for customers

* Basic knowledge of planning and scheduling functions

* Basic knowledge of PC operations & software including JOE, Word, Excel, and Flex

* Ability to work extended hours as required

* Ability to handle a multiple tasks with varying deadlines

* Ability to work with extremely confidential information/situations and maintain confidentiality

* Ability to evaluate and recommend appropriate action as necessary on productivity, utilization, scrap, safety and personnel related issues

* Excellent oral and written communications skills through all levels of management

* Ability to fill in for shift supervisors in the other departments as needed and make appropriate tactical decisions

* Ability to identify daily production problems, develop action plans to resolve root causes and coordinate the implementation of the solution

Recommend employee machine assignments to maximize productivity and utilization based factors such as planned vacation schedules, unscheduled absences and/or family medical leave /long-term disability

* Ability to lead efforts of multi-functional work teams that support business strategies as well as conduct meetings

* Communicate ideas concisely and effectively in oral and written form, including preparation and delivery of production meeting on assigned shift. 

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions

* Regular exposure to manufacturing environment with one or more unpleasant hazardous conditions including but not limited to exposure to dust, dirt, high noise levels, chemicals more than 50% of the work time.

* Some overnight travel by various modes of transportation including airline, train, and automobile as deemed appropriate

* Continuous contact with other people requiring communications via face-to-face, orally by telephone and various written methodologies

* Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

* Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time

* Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.

* Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to others accurately, loudly, or quickly.

* Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.

* Visual Acuity: Able to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
