Director, Payroll

Salary: $115K-$150K

Position Purpose:

The Director of Payroll leads the timely and accurate delivery of payroll services and is responsible for maintaining my clients payroll system and related technologies.

This position is responsible for overseeing the input and integrity of all pay related data, as well as ensures that local, state and federal compliance requirements are met.

The Director of Payroll establishes and maintains taxreporting procedures. This position manages a staff of payrollassociates and establishes customer service and productivity performance metrics and goals.

Job Description:

Oversees consistent and timely company-wide payroll operations and ensures compliance with applicable tax and wage/hour laws.

Responsible for production of W-2 Forms and related year-end reporting.

Manages employee pay-related issues, which include overpayments, late pay, deductions, and related pay adjustments.

Sets goals and determine priorities for the Payroll department.

Manages team of Payrollassociates, which includes hiring, assigning work, evaluating performance and providing opportunities for staff development and recognition.

Serves as functional business owner of the payroll system.

Maintains a high level of understanding of best-in-class operations through continuing education, benchmarking, and forming cross-functional partnerships.

Identifies business improvement opportunities, system enhancements and reports to improve payroll accuracy, efficiency, and customer service.

Develops, implements, and maintains Payroll procedures and controls.

Identifies potential payrollrisks and takes action to mitigate such risks.

Develops reporting tools and solutions to ensure appropriate financial information is made available to associates and management in a timely manner, including reports detailing gross payroll, hours worked, leave accruals, benefits and tax deductions, etc.

Facilitates cross functional relationships withinternal and external stakeholders such as Legal, OE, Information Technology, and other departments.

Interfaces with OE and IT.

Provides recommendations and direction to Payroll/IT/HRIS steering committee.

Partners with IT team on full system implementation life cycle (i.e. overall project objectives and scope, requirements, design, testing, implementation plans, and project plan development of deliverables, milestones, costs, and resources).

Provides project planning, project management and execution.

Maintains awareness of trends in PeopleSoft and otherPayroll/Timekeeping software enhancements

Manages Payroll operating budget including planning, budgeting and forecastingPayroll needs and applications.

Solicits feedback and identifies requirements of Payroll end users, prepares and distributes timely Payroll communication.

Handles appeals, issues and high level question.

Maintains liaison and smooth processes withinternal customers: Accounting, Legal, ASC, Staffing, OE, etc.


*Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or a related field preferred.

*Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsiblepayrollexperience.

*Three to five years management experience.

*Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) Certification.
