BI Developers! is responsible for developing and implementing Business Intelligence, Data Warehouses and Big Data analytic solutions. They will provide a consultative presence in all subject areas of the Tractor Supply business which allows a deep understanding of the pace, direction, and needs of business partners. This requires advanced understanding of the retail space and data analysis. They are accountable for delivering solutions that meet business needs and drive business value.

Duties and Responsibilities

Meets with technical leads, architects and vendor partners to determine project scope and vision, set system goals, identify and resolve system issues, ensure the system is implemented as designed and in adherence to the implementation guidelines.
Work directly with business partners to capture and refine business requirements into core system capabilities.
Assists developers, analysts, and designers in conceptualizing and validating Business Intelligence solutions that meet business requirements.
Develops and/or configures, builds, reviews and unit tests Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse, and Big Data software/solutions.
Responsible for designing test cases and supporting test case execution.
Works directly with the business users to provide support includng the design and development of customer training materials, and conducting customer training sessions.
Works with Enterprise teams to ensure changes are properly documented, communicated, audited, and deployed in compliance with established procedures.
Participates in 24x7 on call rotations.

Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience)

Four-year college diploma or university degree in computer systems design or computer science, or 7+ years equivalent technology work experience.
5+ years experience developing and supporting Business Intelligence tools such as BusinessObjects, MicroStrategy, or Cognos.
5+ years database development experience, writing ANSI SQL and working with database platforms such as Netezza, Oracle, or SQL Server.
Experience working with Big Data tools and languages such as Hadoop, Hive, R, etc.
Certifications in Data Warehousing concepts and techniques are preferred.
Advanced experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodology is preferred.


Advanced understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
Advanced knowledge of database systems and ETL software tools including best practices and methodologies.
Advanced data analysis, data architecture and data modeling experience and familiarity with data modeling design tools (e.g. Erwin, PowerDesigner, ERStudio, etc.)
Advanced understanding of Business Intelligence tools, including Business Objects.
Advanced understanding of in-house data-intensive applications, including Cognos Planning is preferred.
Advanced knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies is preferred.
Advanced presentation skills are preferred.
Advanced technical architecture and technical support documentation skills is preferred.
Advanced understanding of project-based work structures, project lifecycle models, and the change management processes is preferred.
Ability to conduct research into database issues, standards and products as required is preferred.
Ability to work independently, work in a fast paced environment, and manage workload prioritization to deliver high quality work products on time with minimal direction.
Demonstrated collaboration skills with the ability to handle conflict and to work with a distributed team.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to use proven problem-solving approaches to most solutions.
