Our Area Manager, Purchasing:

  • Effectively leads, coaches, develops, and enables the Procurement Team Leads to achieve corporate and plant objectives in a continuous improvement environment
  • Manages and facilitates all facets of the local and regional procurement activities worth ~$400M/year, including negotiations, safety programs, benchmarking, surplus and inventory optimization, and continuous improvement opportunities for all suppliers

               

ACCOUNTABILITIES:     

  • Manages Purchasing metrics, to monitor performance and allow for data driven decision making
  • Partners and collaborates with other departments to support strategic goals for sourcing materials, equipment, and/or services
  • Acts as a liaison between Plant Leadership Team and local Procurement leaders
  • Supervises Procurement Team Leaders and completes/reviews annual performance evaluations, collaborates on goal setting and training requirements. Mentors and trains staff in the areas of purchasing competencies, skills, procedures, metric compliance, and policies as appropriate
  • Assists in the development and implementation of national, regional, and local agreements
  • Understands spending trends, cost drivers, market factors, geographic considerations, and strategic importance of critical commodities in order to implement appropriate purchasing strategies
  • Administer and meet the Purchasing operating budget
  • Supports and promotes AM/NS Mission, Vision and Values
  • Maintains morale and motivation of Procurement team leaders and staff
  • Monitors and ensures that workloads are distributed appropriately based on knowledge base and volume
  • Fulfills the commitment to ensure a safe and healthy work environment
  • Fulfills the responsibilitiesrequired to achieve the Quality Commitment
  • Demonstrates commitment to teamwork by fostering an environment that embodies trust and respect

EDUCATION & ACCREDITATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Finance/Accounting, or Supply Chain Management, or related, or combination of post-secondary education and related experience plus minimum of eight (8) years of experience in purchasing discipline including a minimum of three (3) supervisory experience in a high volume procurement environment                

 

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of Market / Industry research/analysis techniques
  • Knowledge of strategic sourcing best practices
  • Knowledge of Project Management/Analytical/Leadership skills
  • Ability to conduct statistical analysis
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement Processes including Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Demonstrated expertise in Purchasing, Supplier collaboration, development and compliance
  • End-to-End understanding of the Procurement process and demonstrated ability to implement
  • Demonstrated experience in Material Management and Contract Administration
  • Knowledge of manufacturing/operations environment and processes
  • Experience with on-line Purchasing Tools and Methods
  • Contract execution and negotiations experience
  • Experience working with SAP-MM module, Dynamics A/X or Oracle JD Edwards
  • Experience with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
