Crowe Horwath is seeking a dynamic Senior Manager. This Senior Manager will have an opportunity to work on a variety of governmental, higher education, and non-profit, throughout southern California.

The senior manager will serve in an auditing role as well as approximately 20% of their time serving clients in a financial advisory/consulting role. This Senior Manager and will be required to provide guidance and supervision to in-charge accountants and staff in both of these focus areas. A person in this position will have direct interaction with senior level members of the Government/Non-profit/Higher Education practice, and an opportunity to grow with the firm.

As part of the audit team, the Audit Senior Manager will be responsible for:

  • Owning the client relationships with a variety of clients within our Government, Higher Education and Non-profit practice
  • Play a key role in future business generation by identifying new business opportunities through networking within industry
  • Responsible for coordinating and performing Public Sector engagements
  • Responsible for managing multiple teams and providing performance feedback to all members of those teams at the conclusion of engagements
  • Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, and lead change efforts effectively
  • Promoting new ideas and business solutions that result in extended services to existing clients
  • Keeping abreast of latest developments and the firm's standards and policies
  • Keeping abreast of industry developments and their effects on client's competitive position

A candidate should be organized, professional, possess strong technical and interpersonal skills to be able to work effectively with our clients and staff.  They should have an existing network of contacts throughout the industry and the ability to expand this network.  The position will also require the individual to manage planning, executing, and wrapping up various engagements, which may be performed concurrently.  An ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work on both consulting and audit engagements and effectively manage deadlines.  The ability to perform research on technical matters prior to submitting for Partner review is important.  For the financial consulting and advisory, the candidate should possess familiarity with all aspects of the financial statement close process and have experience preparing/reviewing financial statement account reconciliations, grant monitoring and compliance and other operational matters.

  • 8 plus years of recent experience with a public accounting firm
  • Experience working with government, higher education and non-profit clients  required
  • Candidate must be a licensed CPA in the state of California or must be able to be licensed in California
  • Ability to interact with clients, prospects, all levels of staff, and colleagues in a professional fashion
  • Strong skills in maintaining great client service and strong time management skills
  • Experience supervising engagement team members and instructing them on completing assigned task
  • Ability to adequately manage multiple engagements with multiple teams
  • Prior experience with business development and the preparation of proposals
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must
  • Strong accounting and auditing skills
