We are bringing 800 new jobs to Huntsville, Alabama and building a state-of-the art advanced manufacturing facility where we will produce our industry-leading solid propulsion systems, and our next-generation rocket engine. Our efforts to build on our existing presence in Huntsville are in full swing. Defense-related program management, engineering and related support positions will be housed at this site, home of Aerojet Rocketdyne's Defense headquarters and Rocket Shop Defense Advanced Programs.
Aerojet Rocketdyne seeks a Senior Project/Product Engineer for the Huntsville, AL location. The Senior Project Engineer will plan and perform propulsion program tasks in conjunction with program management. Under general direction, you will implement design and analysis tasks, special studies, experiments, and hardware/test requirements. Additionally, you will coordinate ballistic, thermal, and structural analyses, as well as perform post-test examination, analyses, and reporting. You shall also have the ability to successfully:
- Provide imaginative, thorough, and practicable solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving the conventional utilization of engineering techniques.
- Conceive and plans projects involving the development of new methods to attain objectives.
- Provide direction in problem investigations and resolution across functional areas.
- Lead investigation activity if sufficient experience in investigation of tools and procedures has been demonstrated.
- Prepare technical and design requirements in support of project goals.
- Keep current in relevant technologies and methods in support of project assignments.
- May provide technical guidance to less senior project engineers and project support personnel.
- May be assigned Cost Account Management duties.
- May perform as the engineering cost account manager.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
Work is performed with general/minimal direction.
65% - SupportEngineering teams working on solid rocket motor development and production program tasks/problem resolution, etc. Coordinate engineering work; manage technical progress, risk, schedule, and cost as needed.
15% - Monitor technical progress and interface with Program Management, Aerojet Rocketdyne customers, and other Aerojet Rocketdyne functional organizations to understand and develop resolution to program technical issues.
10% - Provide technical consultation to Program Management and Business Development organizations for business development activities such as writing white papers or preparing and presenting technical briefings to customers.
5% - Support the technical lead on proposals to government customers or prime contractors for propulsion development or technology programs.
5% - Provide inputs to written and verbal status reports toEngineering lead, Aerojet Rocketdyne Management, and provide input and leadership at product team meetings.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline, and five (5) or more years of directly related experience. Three (3) or more years of experience with solid propellant propulsion projects is highly desired. CAD knowledge is desirable. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software is required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. US Citizenship only required. Dual Citizenship does not meet job qualifications. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information.
