Facilities Engineering, at the Aerojet Rocketdyne Los Angeles Site, is looking to hire a Professional (PE) Mechanical Engineer with experience in Project Engineering and Design for the installation and modifications of Manufacturing and Process equipment, HVAC systems, process piping, and clean pressurized gas systems.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
Working with minimal direction:
30% - Lead and support Facilities projects in the development of Mechanical Engineering designs, calculations, specifications, and cost estimates for equipment acquisitions, facility renovations, and construction projects.
10% - Interface with A&E firms and constructioncontractors.
20% - Review and approve construction documents and contractor submittals.
10% - Maintain as-built drawings and records.
10% - Interpret and apply codes.
20% - Support Maintenance staff in trouble shooting and technical issues as required.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, and nine (9) years of directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
US Citizenship Only Required. Dual Citizenship does not meet job qualifications.
- Knowledge of applicable NFPA and building codes.
- California State Licensed Professional Engineer – Mechanical Engineering.
- Proficiency in AutoCad, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & MS Project.
Work Environment and Physical requirements:
This position requires climbing stairs and ladders to access mechanical equipment and systems, and frequent visits to manufacturing, lab and construction areas.
The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. May also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
