Position Core Role: This position will be responsible for qualifying that all equipment and processes being implemented at AEP are compliant to all the Honda and regulatory requirements. Review all specification for new equipment prior to contracts being awarded. Advise on safety requirements to eliminate occupational hazards before equipment is installed at AEP working jointly with equipment service and department engineering in setting standards, tolerances, and other related engineering requirements. Lead the PSM(Process Safety Management)/RMP(Risk Management Plan) program at AEP for OSHA/EPA compliance. Lead AEP electrical controls program to ensure control circuitry is fail safe. Serve as technical expert and regularly review occupational safety policies, guidelines and standards to determine their consistency with accepted engineering principles and practices and recommend technical changes as needed. Position will require a continual understanding and access to any updates to OSHA- ANSI-NFPA-NIOSH-ACGIH to assure AEP compliance. Duties would include supporting of safety related new model development such as design changes and work with designers to ensure changes are made prior to equipment and application being applied on the floor. Essential Function and Responsibilities: Lead all equipment acceptances for mass production approval Lead in the structure of Lockout Program to ensure the end use understanding and applicable use Partake in Safety Business Plan and Budget Development Develop and update Policies and Procedures for AEP Take part in monthly/quarterly reports to management Contribute to the development of both safety unit associates and department safety associates with goals/activities including mentoring Meet/Exceed the needs of safety’s customers Participate in safety unit auditing activities, assist in the development of schedules and auditing content Support the plant ergonomics program by conducting process analysis Present AEP Safety results and initiatives to associates of all levels Review equipment specification for safety non-conformance Partake in pro-active plant initiatives to reduce injuries Lead special projects that will improve AEP’s safety level along with changes to compliance and regulatory requirements Daily Tasks: Support AEP Safety activities and customer department level investigations and countermeasures Complete supporting analysis, paperwork and reports to manage safety related activity Ongoing interface with customers to exceed their expectations Assure AEP compliance with OSHA/EPA applicable codes, recognized industry standards and internal budget and schedule constraints Interface with outside consultants, code officials and engineers Mentor manufacturing engineers when preparing equipment for acceptance Perform additional tasks and special projects as needed.   Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience with interpreting and applying OSHA, ANSO, NIOSH, NFPA, ACGIH and General Industry or HAM and AEP Safety regulations and guidelines Strong self-motivation and management skills Strong problem solving/ root cause analysis skills Capable of leading, mentoring and teaching others Ability to work both independently and as a team member, demonstrating personal initiative and team player characteristics to exceed customer requirements Ability to effectively communicate (oral and written) proposals to plant/senior management/ customers Ability to analyze data and perform trend analysis Ability to develop a technical presentation that can be conveyed to upper management in a non-technical manner   Required Experience: Minimum of 2 years of applicable experience   Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field or relevant experience without a degree
