POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Clinical Strategist reports directly to the Exec Director of Transformation. The Senior Clinical Strategist is front facing to the provider partners to ensure the execution of the defined road map to achieve the triple aim.

With a focus on partnering with our internal and external constituents this role will ensure clinical programs and workflows are delivered accurately and on time. Responsibilities will include evaluating population health programs within the ACO, identifying appropriate programs and executing new programs, workflows and/or processes to meet the ACS business results.

This role will foster strong, ongoing clinical client relationships by transferring knowledge, best practices (external and internal), methodology and tools to client organizations. May be responsible for concurrent initiatives as team lead and/or team member, based on resource requirements.

This work results in initiatives that significantly impact company strategy enabling Aetna to be competitive in the marketplace and effectively serve its customers.

Partners with business owners to optimize the achievement of strategic business objectives including profitable growth and improved organizational effectiveness as well as decreasing the total cost of care, improving quality and patient experience

Fundamental components include but are not limited to:
Drive or guide the development of holistic solutions and/or key strategic plans as it relates to population health programs within the ACO.

The expectation is that the Senior Clinical Strategist provides recommendations around the identification and implementation of care transformation programs within the client organization that will improve quality, increase efficiency and drive cost savings.

Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and independently influence business leader(s) to act or change behavior through negotiations and/or consultation that promotes issue resolution Collaborate with marketing and sales to create messaging on the value-add of the ACO.

This value should be messaged and communicated in a compelling manner so that a favorable response is received Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement and independently influences business leader(s) to act or change behavior through negotiations and/or consultation that promotes issue resolution. Communicates compelling and concise results to empower client groups in decision making regarding initiative opportunities.

Conducts thorough business case and external customer value analysis to determine selection, prioritization positioning and approach for broadest range of potential solutions (eg. outsourcing, process improvements, technology solutions) Fully integrates baseline and metrics tracking into initiative planning and execution for optimal results.

Shares joint accountability for initiatives return on investment Provides continuous coaching, direction, feedback and development for other consultants, matrixed staff and/or external vendors as required Drives or guides engagement using a disciplined repeatable methodology. Designs, develops interventions and facilitates work sessions.

Develops and delivers all required analysis, reporting and presentation materials Gathers, analyzes and synthesizes clinical business intelligence to drive achievement of strategic business objectives Facilitates diverse internal and external networks, as appropriate, for data gathering and best practice identification Leverages internal and external networking to drive optimal initiative results and knowledge/best practice transfer Responsible for ensuring the ACS Care Transformation programs implemented to promote the best in class program offerings of our internal partners in order to meet the needs of our external partners (ACOs, provider delivery systems

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE

-AN RN license is required
-10+ years strong background in health care analysis methods and tools, population health is required
-Care management including disease management, complex care and end of life is preferred
-Ability to collaborate with and understand the needs of C-level executives and help translate those needs to an actionable plan is required
-Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts and implications to business and policy decisions is required
-The ability to interpret population health data analytics into an actionable clinical strategy is required

EDUCATION

The minimum level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Nursing/Registered Nurse (RN) is required

ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION

Strong Clinical Program experience with a familiarity with clinical program delivery on the provider side.
Ability to manage multiple customers and competing priorities that drive positive outcomes
Experience as a healthcare clinical consultant is highly desirable
- Specific experience within an ACO model is highly desired.
