Job Description Summary:
The Sr. Engineer Civil Structural provides leadership, mentoring and guidance to less experienced partners and participate in establishing the scope, schedule and cost controls consistent with their unit and compatible with MOX Project objectives. The individual in this role manages and serves as technical expert on projects. The Engineer monitors regulatory requirements and ensures conformance to engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Champion the commitment to safety, security, environmental and quality priorities and values throughout the MOX Project
  • Produce technically correct, constructible, engineered design drawings, reports and specifications
  • Act as a resource for less experienced colleagues and motivate others to achieve project objectives
  • Perform a variety of engineering work in the initial planning and design phases of the project
  • Support the procurement and construction phases of the project
  • Anticipate customer needs and identify the solution
  • Apply in-depth skill and broad knowledge of the business to address complex problems and nonstandard situations
  • Manage time to meet objectives
  • Forecast and plan resource requirements
  • Explain difficult concepts and obtain consensus on the design approach
  • Develop the project design basis
  • Supervise the preparation of engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and other design deliverables
  • Manage cost and schedule for specific projects
  • Communicate clearly with peers, technical and non-technical personnel, designers and other disciplines
  • Integrate knowledge of business and functional priorities
  • Ensures effective management of change
  • Civil/Structural Engineering discipline develops design documents (drawings, calculations, data sheets, etc.) based on industry codes and standards, and evaluate designs for conformance to those industry codes and standards. The design deliverables in this discipline relate to the building structure and related appurtenances. Duties include generation of design documentation, and/or resolution of non-conformances.

    Specific software skills related to Civil/Structural engineers include:
  • Bentley MicroStation
  • SmartPlant Review (SmartPlant is another industry standard design platform like PDS) * AutoCad
  • Adobe Acrobat Professional (PDF Review and Markup)
  • MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)

Required Qualification:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Engineering plus 13 years' engineering experience
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction standards, techniques and criteria
  • Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Excel, Word and MathCad
  • Knowledge of design specific software programs such as GTstrudl, ANSYS and others.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects through subordinates and at all levels of the organization
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional Engineer Certification
  • Demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigation and problem solving
  • Strong negotiation and organizational skills proficiency
  • Experience in a nuclear construction environment
