We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead Manufacturing Engineering and Quality functions for Control Solutions, General Industries covering both Franksville and Pittsburgh facilities. Position will be located in Franksville, WI.
This position will lead Manufacturing Engineering and Quality functions for Control Solutions General Industries, with responsibility for both Franksville and Pittsburgh manufacturing facilities. Both facilities design and manufacture highly-specified electrical / electronic control products and systems, including solid state motor starters, variable frequency drives, OEM-specific industrial control panels, and complex control systems, ranging from 5-10,000 horsepower and 200-13,800 volts. This role will interact with key customers and various functions across the business.
Key responsibility will include ensuring that projects are completed on-time and within budgetary guidelines, managing the quality system to achieve quality objectives, leading and managing human and economic resources across both facilities, providing hiring, promotion and disciplinary action recommendations, as well as performance evaluation and feedback for direct reports. The selected candidate should drive for optimum business results and success despite any obstacles and/or difficulties that may arise, with the ability to motivate and engage both direct and indirect team members. Achievement of committed goals will be a key requirement of success in this role.
Leads and directs manufacturing engineering and quality departments. Responsible for achieving department goals and objectives, and development of employees.
Leads development and implementation of Quality Management Systems (QMS).
Implements Lean Manufacturing processes, consistent with the Regal Star Program. Supports implementation of the Regal Star Program in each facility by implementing concepts in both Manufacturing and Quality functions.
Leads complex and/or challenging process engineeringprojects and develops innovative approaches that streamline production processes to achieve market-leading safety, quality, customer leadtimes, on-time delivery and cost productivity. Responsible for managing manufacturing capital projects and related budgets. Estimates the cost, time and resources required for projects; prepares work orders and monitors the progress of work against estimates.
Develops, deploys and maintains the quality planning system (i.e. control plans, etc.). Aligns budgets, personnel, continuous improvement projects and kaizen events to share best practices and source experts between responsible sites.
Continuously assesses manufacturing strategies and production footprints for both facilities, working closely with Operational Excellence leadership to develop, recommend and implement improvement actions.
Reviews and evaluates processes and procedures for continuous improvement. May include responsibility for Process Engineering, ProjectEngineering, Continuous Improvement, and/or Maintenance.
Develops and leads productivity improvement initiatives to achieve aggressive year over year improvement goals
Monitors industry trends and developments in engineeringtechnology and makes recommendations on equipment/systems investments.
Highly involved in supporting Product Management and Engineering to harmonize Manufacturing/Quality activity in new product development (NPD) process.
Collaborates cross-functionally to determine appropriate process improvements. Implements actions to ensure the effectiveness of the QMS for assigned sites.
Reviews all corrective actions submissions and communicates to pertinent customers. Completes analytical review of the QMS to support reduction in scrap, rework, and warranty. Summarizes corrective action results and feeds back into the QMS for continuous improvement.
Determines cost and capability of meeting customer requirements. Ensures customer is confident that requirements in quality are being met. Implements systems to meet customer requirements. Provides evidence of meeting customer requirements.
Ensures that manufacturing engineering and quality function operations and related activities meet legal requirements and are in accordance with Company policies, procedures and the organization’s goals and objectives.
Ensures compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations. Ensures the maintenance of departmental housekeeping standards.
Bachelor's degree in ElectricalEngineering or related area. Master’s degree in related engineering disciplines and/or MBA (or equivalent business degree) is highly desirable.
Minimum seven (7) years of experience in electrical control system design and integration, related industrial manufacturing and/or quality engineering.
Manufacturing and/or design engineeringexperience and demonstrated technical knowledge of solid-state and variable speed drives and systems, power electronics, high-power/high-voltageelectrical packaging (enclosures), and Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) is required.
Strong technical skills related to electricalengineering and power electronics.
Applications and/or commercial experience with both low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) Drives and Controls.
Green Belt in LeanSix SigmaRequired. Black Belt in LeanSix Sigma and/or manufacturing engineering certification preferred.
Strong demonstrated process/systems knowledge in Design for Manufacturing, Test Engineering, drives manufacturing processes, PFMEA, plant layout design capability, NPD, and ISO/Quality Management System TS16949 including PPAP and APQP.
Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate and understand practices/protocols in global environment is essential.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financialreports, and legal documents.
Ability to effectively present information to top management, customers, vendors, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to travel10% - 30% of time, depending on customer needs.
Ability to work independently and consistently meet deadlines.
