  • Plans, directs and coordinates activities of employees involved in developing procedures, equipment and techniques to prevent/solve environmental and energy-related problems
  • Schedules and assigns duties to staff and engineers based on evaluation of their knowledge of specific disciplines
  • Confers with department and process managers to formulate various emergency response plans, coordinate operating procedures/activities and establish reporting procedures
  • Coordinates activities of personnel conducting successive phases of problem analysis, solution proposals, testing implementation and follow-up
  • Reviews technical aspects of projects and processes to assess environmental and energy impacts
  • Analyze program and project cost effectiveness and develop budgets. Approve expenditures.
  • Confers with local, state and federal regulatory agencies to determine local environmental and energy standards, industrial priorities and new developments in pollution control, carbon footprint reductions, and energy management
  • Responsible for facilitating Pollution Prevention/Waste Minimization/HAZMIN initiatives and environmental and energy sustainability programs
  • Oversight and/or preparation of permit applications for all environmental media and pathways affecting the NRV Plant
  • Manage and monitor the compliance management system, task management, APCD monitoring systems and database, and paint usage monitoring systems
  • Manage the environmental database management system for compliance records, develop SQL queries for reporting and quality assurance functions, and develop custom reports to match specific permit requirements
  • Responsible for developing, implementing and maintain NRV’s environmental management system (EMS) and energy management system (EnMS), and related database(s)
  • Responsible for the communication of the status of the EMS and EnMS to the senior management staff, including periodic senior management reviews
  • Responsible for the review of non-conformances generated by the internal audit process
  • Responsible to ensure the Environmental Department activities meet the requirements of the environmental regulations, permit conditions, and company policies and guidelines

Minimum Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s DegreeRequired
  • Preferred Master’s in Engineering, Chemistry, Hazardous Waste Management or Applied Sciences

Other Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, etc.
  • Certified Energy Manager (C.E.M.)
  • Detailed knowledge and practical experience in compliance, permitting and reporting for state and federal environmental regulations and associated reports for RCRA Hazardous Waste, including Subpart J and Subpart BB, Clean Air Act including PSD, Title V, Refrigerant, NSPS, and MACT Rules, GHG Emissions Management and Reporting, Clean Water Act, Emergency Response Plans, Oil Discharge Contingency Plans, SPSS, SARA Title III, Stormwater Management, Industrial Wastewater Operations an Permitting, Pollution Prevention Act, Solid Waste Management, and Waste Minimization
  • Experience with developing compliance strategies and agency negotiations to resolve regulatory issues
  • Practical experience implementing the ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 Standards and Programs, including DOE’s Superior Energy Performance requirements
  • Experience with Environmental Database Management and Administration, SQL Query Language, Crystal Reports
