Senior Network Security Engineer

Job Description

The Senior Network Security engineer is a technical leadership position within the IT organization and is responsible for the architecture, design and operational support of all corporate network and security infrastructure. The position reports directly to the VP, IT Operations.

Job Responsibilities

•Provide expert architectural design and operational support of:
?Cisco WAN/LAN network infrastructure with large hosting environment
?Checkpoint firewalls & intrusion detection/intrusion prevention systems (at least 2 years )
?F5/Big IP - LTM/ASM/APM modules including web application firewalls (WAF)
•Mastery of enterprise routing and switching including (but not limited to): BGP, MPLS, OSPF, VPC, 802.1Q trunking, ether channel, spanning tree, QOS
•Network traffic monitoring; early detection and fast reaction to unexpected “suspicious situations (i.e. unusual traffic volume, port attacks, rogue devices in the network, etc.) 
•Web and network security exploit identification
•Secure remote access platform with Two-factor Authentication 
•Security event analysis and monitoring 
•Technical leadership role with security incident response 
•Payment Card Industry (PCI/DSS) compliance managing information security procedures and policies 
•Conduct regular compliance scanning and penetration testing with reporting and issue resolution 
•Liaising with global colleagues on the development of new designs and standards 
•Provide an escalation path for operations and deployment staff to resolve problems 
•Evaluate and certify new technologies or new versions of existing products 
•Comfortable with Linux system administration 
•Act as escalation point to vendor/carrier to resolve network problems 
•Write and maintain technical documentation including design docs, test plans, project plans, procedures, incident reports and troubleshooting guides

Basic Qualifications

•Minimum of 7 years’ experience focused on network management and security 
•Computer Science or Computer Software Engineering degree or equivalent technical training 
•Ability to translate security policies and procedures into technical architectures and/or configuration settings 
•Strong organizational, problem-solving, written and communication skills 
•Ability to quickly learn new technologies and concepts and apply that knowledge effectively 
•Ability to work both independently and with a team to accomplish multiple tasks and projects 
•Ability to create technical documentation and network diagrams as deliverables to customers in a timely manner 
•Work with little supervision and is self-motivated 
•Experience with integration of vendor products into a complex corporate IT environment 
•Vendor Management experience 
•Project management skills 
•Strong understanding of WINDOWS and LINUX/UNIX environments 
•Sound knowledge of current security techniques and best practices, latest protocols and defenses against attacks 
•Basic ability to program scripts and batch files. 
•Working knowledge of MS Office & MS Visio 

Technical Competencies:

•Training and/or manufacturer certification on network equipment and protocols preferred
?Checkpoint - at least 2 years
•CISSP or other general security related certification a plus
•MS Windows Operating Systems
•Unix/Redhat Linux OS experience a plus

Additional Information

•Available to work evenings and weekends if/when necessary
•Willingness to work a flexible on-call schedule
