Job Description

The Vice President of Operations New Home Construction will be a seasoned individual with demonstrated success and experience in developing and managing an operations department for a new home builder. This position requires leadership and attention to detail, combined with a proven track record.


Primary responsibilities:

  • The West Coast Territory is comprised of Idaho, Texas, Colorado, Arizona, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Nevada
  • Oversees the negotiation of contracts for services to be performed by constructioncontractors for the regional operations
  • Manages, develops, maintains and underwrites all construction, acquisitions and land development budgets on each home


Directs and oversees the division including department operations, budgets, staff development and oversight as specifically related to:


  • Profit and Loss reporting
  • Budgeting
  • Bidding and estimates
  • Ensures that all shortages/overages in Construction Budgets are reported
  • Negotiates all business terms for land and lot acquisition and construction
  • Acquires, entitles, engineers, and develops residential lots and land
  • Supports land acquisition and development activities as needed
  • Monitors and ensures that the schedule for completion is met on each home
  • Regional real estate industry and sector knowledge extremely beneficial
  • Ensures that all construction positions are well staffed with individuals that are competent in technical abilities, cost control measures, administrative and customer service skills
  • Trains, develops, manages, and motivates direct reports on the operations team
  • Fosters a team environment ensure that effective communication, coordination of activities and creative problem solving
  • Continuously evaluates subcontractors for quality standards and schedulingdeadlines
  • Ensures the understanding of and adherence to the safety program by all construction personnel
  • Monitors and ensures the success of the Quality Control process

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college is required (Real Estate, Finance, Construction Management, or Civil Engineeringdegrees preferred)
  • 5+ years’ experience overseeing the operations of a new home builder or relevant experience in the home building industry in a similar role is required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience, managing direct reports.
  • Proficiency in analyzing construction documentation
  • Intermediate to advanced experience using Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, planning, budgeting and business/financial analysis skills.
