Directs and supervises the Respiratory Care Department operations in order to provide the optimum quality of patient care and diagnostic testing in a cost effective manner. Responsible for performance improvement and projects at both the staff and managerial level.
Ensures that the Respiratory Department is compliant with federal, state, JCAHO, CLIA and CAP requirements pertaining to operations.
Develops, coordinates and standardizes Respiratory Care policies, procedures, purchasing activities, and services to assure conformity with applicable regulatory standards.
Assumes full staff compliance with policies and procedures through education, monitoring and current licensure.
Participates in development of educational materials, teaches and reinforces education on disease process, treatment and wellness to staff, patients, family members/significant others and the community.
Communicates effectively via regular staff meetings and other mechanisms to discuss department, divisional and system based issues, information and initiatives.
Ensures the staff understands the range of service needed by the patient population served, including the specific needs of infants, children, adults and the elderly.
Ensures financial stability and resource stewardship of Respiratory Department by developing and monitoring budgets, managing procurement (to include supplier and product quality, negotiation, etc.) Researches new service lines to meet community needs. Uses data to analyze and plan the growth and development of the Respiratory Department.
Minimum five years experience in the field of Respiratory Care required.
Three years progressive management experience.
Required: Graduate of an AMA approved and accredited formal training program for Respiratory Care. Bachelors Required, Masters Preferred
