Under minimal supervision, manages overall administration and operations of assigned units including: Cardiac Cath Lab, Electrophysiology (EP) Lab/Pacemaker Clinic, Noninvasive Cardiology, ECG/EKG, Echocardiography, Cardiac Rehab and Cardiology Administration. Assumes responsibility for patient care and safety and for the quality of all activities and procedures performed in the department. Assists with the development, interpretation and application of departmental policies, procedures and associated regulatory requirements for Cardiovascular services. Responsible for the quality assurance and process improvement/Lean functions pertaining to the assigned units. Responsible for continuing education and credentialing requirements for staff. Assists in the development of department budgets and manages to budget expectations.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Health Care Administration with emphasis in clinical area. Or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Experience: Typically, five years of clinical experience in noninvasive and invasive cardiology services. Three years of supervisory/managerial experience in leadership role, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives to expand and maximize the effectiveness of the Cardiology Department. Ability to manage daily technical and clinical administration of these operational units through matrix reporting, managing supervisors and staff. Able to work closely with the Medicine Service Line Administrator, Medical Directors, Division Chief, and Nursing leadership regarding patient services, including delivery of services, state of relevant technology and equipment, capital planning, revenue generation, establishment of and reimbursement for charges and all other related administrative matters. Ability to direct, plan, coordinate and serve as the clinical liaison for activities, projects and programs to grow service line. Coordination of staffing requirements and resources to meet patient care demands.
Certificate/License/Registration: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Provider Certification/CPR. Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Colorado or a participating compact state. Depending on the needs of the assigned area incumbents in this job title may be required to obtain additional certifications or training in one or more specialty areas within 6 months of hire. Examples include:
• ACLS: MICU, PACU areas, Adult Urgent Care, Anesthesiology, Cardiology, CCT, DIA Clinic, ED, Nursing Admin Support, OR, Progressive Care Unit, Acute Care Units with Telemetry, and SICU
