As an Accounting Professional, you will perform and manage administrative functions, and provide supervision and direction to members of the finance staff. Applicants must have state or local government financial administration experience. Duties include audit; budget preparation; investment management; payroll; accounts payable; accounts receivable; fixed asset programs; general ledger; and other items related to governmental fund accounting and reporting systems.
You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, policies, codes, regulations of governing agencies, and GAAP. You should be a self-motivated professional with seven plus years of experience in a municipal or governmental Accounting Department with three of the years in accounting management supervision.
Under general direction, performs and manages the recording and updating of financial transactions in the City's general ledger, accounts payable, payroll and fixed assets system; supervises professional and clerical accounting staff; oversees the preparation of the City's annual financial report; coordinates the annual external audit; sets up and monitors work schedules for year-end closing, annual external audit and Financial Report; participates in the set-up and testing of new financial applications and upgrades of existing financial applications; reviews and analyzes financial reports to determine the City's current financial position; analyzes the impact of GAAP, GASB and FASB pronouncements on the City's financial reporting system; and performs related duties as assigned.
Experience with state and federal tax regulations, investment practices, bond accounting, cash management, computerized financial systems, GAAP, auditing and reporting are required. The top candidate will possess knowledge of computerized accounting software and Microsoft Office suite; the ability to read, interpret, apply and explain municipal codes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; understand, execute and explain complex oral and written instructions as well as have a desire to grow both personally as well as professionally with each accounting opportunity. Candidates must be committed to high standards of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all safety policies and rules.
The minimum qualifications for this position are:• Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of experience in state or local government financial administration; or 10 years of accounting, auditing or finance experience in state or local government financial administration in lieu of degree.

• Three (3) years of supervisory experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
• Possess a valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record and no major infractions
