Position Description:

PSS, Inc. is actively seeking a Systems Administrator who will be expected to provide the administration of desktop and server systems connected to local and wide area networks. The incumbent’s responsibilities include desktop system management, account monitoring, security, operating system (OS) installation, and other local area system administration related functions. He/she will also:

  • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems
  • Manage IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems
  • Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problem
  • Provide support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers
  • Provide support for the dispatch system and hardware problems, and remain involved in the resolution process
  • Configure and manage Unix and Windows operating systems
  • Install/load operating system and application software
  • Isolate and resolve hardware and software problems involving applications, operating system, hardware, communications infrastructure, or any combination thereof
  • Troubleshoot, maintain integrity and configure network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance
  • Integrate new technologies into new and existing systems, including the transition and migration of corporate systems

 

Clearance Requirements:

TS/SCI or TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance (Applicants selected will be subject to a government securityinvestigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Accordingly, US Citizenship is required.)

 

Position Requirements:

  • 8+ years’ systems administration experience with a high school/GED diploma, or an Associate of Arts degree with 6+ years’ experience, or 4+ years’ experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 2+ years’ experience with a Master’s degree
  • Ability to follow established systems administration processes and checklists
  • Ability to understand and apply more advanced concepts and processes to daily activities
  • Experience assisting more senior-level systems administrators, technicians, and managers in their activities
  • Experience working individually, actively participates on integrated teams, and may also lead a task, project or team
  • Ability to function with minimal guidance and direction from more senior level technicians, specialists, and managers only when dealing with new, uncertain situations
  • Ability to perform all tasks of lower level technicians or specialists
  • Experience developing new concepts and processes
  • Experience analyzing root causes and resolves issues
  • Experience supporting more junior level technicians and specialists in their activities
  • Experience providing guidance to lower level technicians and specialists
